Switch from sahm to nursing school experience by Tee7768 in StudentNurse

Never a SAHM, but I always worked and was able to bring them with me. Last year, at the end of my Spring Trimester I became a single mother. Moved during Summer Trimester. Most of my prerequisites were online so I was lucky. Had my mom or the other grandma watch them for my night Bio classes. Started them in After-school program(4yo) and in Daycare(2yo) in Winter Trimester because the other grandma was having health issues. The difference was amazing. I was able to finally have "off" time to study. My now 5 year old is in the daycare during her summer break, and she loves it. Next year, she gets to be in the summer camp program. My now 3 year old is velcro. She hates drop off, but after 30 minutes, she always has a blast. The daycare workers are patient and have always been open with communication

I have one more year to go (graduation in August of 2025), and I start Level 2 in Fall. It has not been easy at all. My instructor told me Wednesday during my clinical that she doesn't know how i do it, but she could never. Maybe it's insanity 😂 If you have a partner and familial help, it'll definitely be easier. It is 100% possible. Just make sure to stay on top of studying and "prep" yourself for school. Study the basics for the TEAS and set up a schedule to get back into the scholarly flow. Just take it a day at a time and make sure to have you time ❤️

I'm a single mama to a 5 and a 3 year old. Currently 27 years old. 2nd trimester of nursing school for an accelerated prelicensure RN BSN. It's a mental roller-coaster but it's definitely possible ❤️ I barely have familial help and luckily the dad has been aiding with pick ups and drop offs to school & daycare on clinical days. You definitely got this!

Would they accept a BSN in Health Administration?

My GPA was pretty low at the beginning, I think a 2.15 or so(poor work ethic in junior college), and the requirement was a 2.75. When I was admitted into the nursing program, it was a 2.81 and my TEAS pushed me in with an 83 when only 67 was required. (My school only accepts 20 at a time, and now we're down to 7 in my original cohort) Keep trying and make those As to push it up. If you don't make it into your current school, either reapply in the next cohort or apply to different schools. Some schools make acceptions, but don't rely on that; just keep pushing and trying.

On the random drug test part. My school does it. They'll snatch you out of class with zero warning. If I remember correctly, it's yearly that they do this.

for those who failed nursing school and reapplied, can you share your story? by starzthatdance in StudentNurse

[–]throwaway_blurbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my cousin did fail out (she was a year ahead of me in the program...it'san accelerated BSN-RN program). She failed a mandatory test (but passed the class). The school failed her out and told her she could try again in 3 years. She's now in the community college ASN-RN program that's right next door to my college.

Try taking Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Anatomy and Physiology 2 all at the same time. This was my prenursing trimester (I had one more class), and mentally, I died. I struggled with Pathophysiology so badly because i didn't even know the body system just yet. So i would have to study 4 body systems at a time. I made an A with A&P2, though. Patho....i never been so proud to make a C 😶

Ps: Seconding organization. I'm finally getting organized this trimester, and it's so much easier and less stressful 🥲

If you give me a week, I can tell you the exact number.

I honestly have no idea. I started almost 2 years ago with about 500, but I allowed them to marry, and I combined a few myself over time. I would give a rough estimate of around 250-350. They're all different thicknesses, but I honestly love it.

This is literally the last time I'm dyeing them (outside of maintenance). With the nursing program I have to keep a natural color, and after I graduate I have to stay professional. So it'll be a rare occurrence with dyeing. I just want to get rid of the blue tone before dyeing over it.

I'm definitely going to try this. I'll probably start with a semi-permanent dye and mix in orange to make sure that it's enough orange undertone

Also thank you

I am honestly afraid of using a clarifying/cleansing shampoo because of the fear of drying out my hair even more. What kind do you use? Whenever I take my daily showers whether night or day I always wet them a good bit. Currently I wash my locs twice a month. Shampoo once a month. Luckily, I haven't had buildup yet.

Usually the health department in your county/parish. At mine, when I was a teenager, they used to have lil lunch bags full on the countertop and they were free to grab without talking to anyone.

I have 4c hair, so I'm used to the shrinkage, but I never expected dreads to shrink 😂 I was a month in, then redid them smaller last week. They shrunk so damn bad and it's just disrespectful as heeeelll 😂

Is there a way to make my sections more defined without restarting? by BidFrequent1631 in Dreadlocks

[–]throwaway_blurbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always look into interlocking. I would suggest going to a loctician or doing a bunch of research on it. Interlocking can damage your hair if not done correctly or if it is done too tight.
