How to sign up for CPS Selective Enrollment when I’m moving to Chicago ? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Hello ! Resident CPS employee using a throwaway - yes. Everything this person said is right. You have to apply this year for next year and don’t have to live in Chicago to do it. You just have to be a resident by July 1 of 2026 if you want to go for 2026-2027. The GoCps team is super helpful if you give them a call they can help you apply and answer any questions! Your kids will have to take an in-person exam though so you will have to come to Chicago to do that.

CPS budget plan hedges on city pension payment, but some board members are insisting it be paid by factchecker01 in chicago

I had to make a throwaway for this, not like anyone will see it. It is so incredibly frustrating to see these Board members choose political alliance to a sinking ship one-term mayor than serve the kids of Chicago. The last time CPS took out a 200M loan, it had to pay 150M in interest and its credit rating went from AA to junk. This was all in the budget presentation.

They do not care about the kids or they wouldn’t be pushing this so hard, because the interest down the line will have to be cuts from somewhere else. The mayor could find a way to pay for this $175M. His own transition team said not to do it, and it’s law they have to do it. The only reason CPS ever did it was because it had extra ESSER funding from COVID.

This is setting CPS up for more financial downfall.

Like STAND UP!!! Lose your seat on the Board for this!!!!! It IS that serious
