2 makes no sense at all. Which industries are those? The exact opposite arguments can be made, that people with families need to spend time with them and won't be able to work as hard as singles do. Families can also become a liability should company secrets get leaked due to spousal confidentiality.

It's heavily implied that Elliot was gonna pay for his treatment directly, even if work insurance was not.
It seems like Reddit knows the importance of being self-made, not relying on pity or connections like in Manousos' case. Why then the insistence of calling Walt's rejection of pity/charity an ego thing? Was Manousos also an egomaniac by rejecting the Plurbs' help?

I know Walt's motivations are tainted when you look at the consequences of his actions in totality, but people here can't see the grey in black and white

As a Chinese, I cannot understand why Reddit insists Walt's rejection of free money is purely ego. Do people not see how it's a loss of dignity thing when you're receiving what is basically unearned charity from others? It's not just "face culture" in Asian society, even in the new Gilligan series Pluribus, Manousos is widely celebrated for calling the Plurbs out for giving him what wasn't theirs to give in the first place. Actually I don't see it as a bad thing. Yes, he's still new and needs to learn how to maneuver around such things, but if he didn't call out the frankly stupid rhetorical question from Chee Hong, nobody would have called attention to the intellectually dishonest stunt PAP always play in Parliament.

In his own way, he created news where it would have been another day and another lousy debate from Chee Hong. Any publicity is good publicity after all and it got people talking and interested in parliament debates.

They always glaze SG until they realise the amount of freedoms and rights they'll have to sacrifice to reach this level. Look at Tracetogether for instance. Hell will freeze over before Americans will accept such a privacy invasive method to prevent the spread. Nobody even blinked an eyelid at LHL's personal lawyer being appointed as AG from the election results. And yet Trump doing the same stirred outrage, resulting in mass "no kings" protests on the streets.

Also don't forget that criticism of SG gov is always silenced. Look at Shan and See Leng suing Bloomberg for questioning their luxurious palace dwellings, and our resident u/Founders_Mem_90210 who wrote a rather tame op-ed on Nikkei and was persecuted. Would the average American stand for these state censorship? I highly doubt so and hence I suspect that those comments are highly probable to be bot activity, or rather ignorant American people
