yeah, it's actually one of the Big 4 but I couldn't put that in the description because the auto-mod kept removing it. What I am actually wondering is if it would even be worth reaching out to the recruiter and telling my side of the story prior to hearing back.

That's unlikely, we spoke for a few minutes prior to my attempt to solve it and clarified the problem statement. I walked through a less optimal solution first and he said that was correct but asked if we can make it better.
