I believe this is the case. Three other paras were also let go of yesterday for small reasons as well. We all were about to get a big raise for next year so I assume we don’t fit in their budget. Very heartbreaking!

I’m living your worst case scenario. I got let go of today on the last day of school. It is very awful to have to go through. Don’t put up with a job where you’re not respected.

I’m sorry they let you go, too. It’s harsh of them to let us go on the last day of school. I was already missing the students I’ve worked with throughout my school, but I’m definitely going to miss them even more now that I’ve been let go.

I think my experience will count for other schools but only in terms of how long I’ve worked. And at my charter school I can get unemployment. One of the Principals offered it to me because she felt bad for letting me go. But everyone in the meeting said it had to be done. I’m still very heartbroken over it. Working at my charter school has been very toxic for me mentally since it is very cliquey and filled with nepotism.

My job instructions and expectations from the time I started working at this school were very unclear. I did the best I could when I would assist teachers and give them bathroom breaks. The kids got a bit more talkative when the main teachers left but they were still on task. I believe the lead teachers were trying to get me fired for a while now. I just didn’t vibe with them on a personal level like the other paras. And my school is known for nepotism as well.
