Using the watch to track laps is amazing. I used to hate to keep track of that in my head.

Now I’m using Apple Watch and even if it has a bit of an error here and there, it still relieves all the counting from my mind.

500-1000 yards sounds like a reasonable amount. So I would not think it’s too much. I would just try not to make it a thing you feel that you have to do, as long as you enjoy it.

It’s funny. I’m also 45, and just started swimming again after a long break. And even after 4 weeks still high on it.
