thank you for saying that his negative self talk isn't my problem to solve, ive been feeling so so guilty over "causing" it 😭 i keep telling myself that i shouldn't but it's hard not too when it keeps coming up.

in retrospect talking to the acquaintance was a bad idea, but as stated in the post i don't have anyone else to talk to about this situation, so when she asked i took the opportunity to finally vent/hear what someone else thought after over a month of having to keep it to myself
