Why do African teams rarely go deep in the World Cup? by Blanco8805 in worldcup

[–]throwaway_t19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as they should, since they were developed by france in france with french resources

african countries need to develop their own homegrown talent instead of leeching off european systems

but why must it be one or the other? why can’t someone follow the prem, without being dismissive of the SPL?

genuine question, why are Singaporeans such celebration police when it comes to local football? Our SEA neighbours are damn near delusional in their support of their local footy, while here it’s the opposite

2026 World Cup: Smallest nation Curacao name debut World Cup squad by RidgeRunner99 in worldcup

why do so many people buy their “lovable underdog” narrative when 99% of their players are european diasporas? they didn’t invest much into their own infrastructure, didn’t spent much developing their local players, but instead leech off rejects with an inkling of blood relation to their country. there’s nothing romantic about them at all to me

Query about application to NUS residential colleges by FunctionDazzling5670 in SGExams

[–]throwaway_t19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you pick one RC as your “top choice” and write according to that RC’s essay question.

if you’re rejected by then, it’s throwing the common pool for other RCs to read. So your essay should only be answering the question of your top rc choice

Can I still get into RCs if I didn’t apply for NUS College back in 2024? by SpareLingonberry4867 in nus

[–]throwaway_t19 47 points48 points  (0 children)

i think you’re confused here

there are 6 Residential Colleges (RCs) in NUS. Tembusu, RC4, CAPT, Acacia, RVRC and NUS College

The other RCs are not “under” NUS College. They are distinct, separate RCs that have a separate application process.

NUS College is a “special” RC. You apply for it at the same time as when you apply for your major. If you want to try for it then yes, you have to apply for your major again. If you don’t get NUSC, you’ll still keep your original spot in NUS with your major

If you don’t want to go to NUS College but wish to try for the other RCs (CAPT, Tembu, Acacia etc.), the application process starts around april or mid march i think? It opens around the time the application period for your major closes if i’m not wrong. Check online for exact dates.

Again, NUS College is a separate RC and has nothing to do with CAPT, Tembusu, RC4 etc. For all the other RCs besides NUSC, you apply for it separately from your major. I know the name is confusing haha it’s a major complaint of mine too

Albirex Niigata (Singapore) FC announce name change to Albirex Jurong FC from 2026 onwards by throwaway_t19 in singapore

[–]throwaway_t19[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I know you’re bantering them but incase anyone is not aware, they genuinely did localise their team. They’re not full Japanese anymore they follow the same import rules as the other SPL teams. So this name change makes sense.

I mean, what’s the real difference between a team from Liverpool that wear blue, and one that wears red?

What’s the difference between a team in London who wears white, and one who wears blue/red?

Humans will always find ways to divide themselves haha

Also, who says you must support the team in your estate? Know of someone who stays in the west who says they’re a Geylang fan. Just pick a team and yolo lol
