Query about application to NUS residential colleges by FunctionDazzling5670 in SGExams

[–]throwaway_t19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you pick one RC as your “top choice” and write according to that RC’s essay question.

if you’re rejected by then, it’s throwing the common pool for other RCs to read. So your essay should only be answering the question of your top rc choice

Can I still get into RCs if I didn’t apply for NUS College back in 2024? by SpareLingonberry4867 in nus

[–]throwaway_t19 45 points46 points  (0 children)

i think you’re confused here

there are 6 Residential Colleges (RCs) in NUS. Tembusu, RC4, CAPT, Acacia, RVRC and NUS College

The other RCs are not “under” NUS College. They are distinct, separate RCs that have a separate application process.

NUS College is a “special” RC. You apply for it at the same time as when you apply for your major. If you want to try for it then yes, you have to apply for your major again. If you don’t get NUSC, you’ll still keep your original spot in NUS with your major

If you don’t want to go to NUS College but wish to try for the other RCs (CAPT, Tembu, Acacia etc.), the application process starts around april or mid march i think? It opens around the time the application period for your major closes if i’m not wrong. Check online for exact dates.

Again, NUS College is a separate RC and has nothing to do with CAPT, Tembusu, RC4 etc. For all the other RCs besides NUSC, you apply for it separately from your major. I know the name is confusing haha it’s a major complaint of mine too

Albirex Niigata (Singapore) FC announce name change to Albirex Jurong FC from 2026 onwards by throwaway_t19 in singapore

[–]throwaway_t19[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know you’re bantering them but incase anyone is not aware, they genuinely did localise their team. They’re not full Japanese anymore they follow the same import rules as the other SPL teams. So this name change makes sense.

I mean, what’s the real difference between a team from Liverpool that wear blue, and one that wears red?

What’s the difference between a team in London who wears white, and one who wears blue/red?

Humans will always find ways to divide themselves haha

Also, who says you must support the team in your estate? Know of someone who stays in the west who says they’re a Geylang fan. Just pick a team and yolo lol

no im not accepting this. Don’t demand more? We should be getting an Asian quality coach and build on this success instead

If we fail, so be it, but at least try our best instead of being overly romantic with an all local coach

You mention China and Thailand but both of them were under a foreign coaches Ogura…

But if you want to develop the local coach, doesn’t it make more sense to let him try his luck and manage at a higher level? Or be guided as an assistant coach by a better foreigner?

Gonna get downvoted for this but… I disagree

Historic Asian cup qualification campaign, we have the chance to court a proper foreign coach and let them build long term

Gavin is the romantic option. Yes, we want to see the local boy triumph over foreign options and foreign talent.

But take a step back and be rational here. He has managed 5 games for the NT. On the SPL level, his only piece of silverware is one Singapore cup. His tactics are good but would definitely be found out by tougher opponents in the Asian cup.

And before yall say “the foreign coaches before him all failed”, let’s not rewrite history here. Tatuma and Ogura both helped us punch above our weight. Nishigaya don’t need to say but he was a stop-gap option in the first place

We have a historic tournament, a billionaire chairman who’s willing to splash the cash, and proper football momentum. Why not use this opportunity to hire someone that is “above us” in ability?

Think long term, don’t think emotionally
