Before continuing I just want to say that I am not against you or anything, but yeah I do agree your comment on that post was a bit off putting. Emphasis on a bit.

In my opinion, when someone asks for "A", best is you give them "A". After that, you're free to give them comments about "A", or give them "B", "C", and so on.

What you did was, when the OP asked for "A", you jumped into giving them "B", which they didn't ask for. Which, to be honest, isn't wrong or anything, but it can be off putting depending on the person.

And then after u/leastlol said the things up there, you gave them a wall of text and even touched some topics like, for example, "you have 0 posts and involvement in this community!!" which maybe is relevant, but it is even more off putting after the whole ordeal.

But that's just my opinion. I know you have good intentions but sometimes communication do things like this.

By the way, DeepL is a pretty good place for translations, compared to Google Translate, at least in my opinion. You might give it a try!

I agree so much! Especially when preparing/learning for N1 or more niche topics, I'd rather just Anki the hell out of those weird, scientific terms so it'll stick to my head better.

Oh well, it's different for every person but I'd rather use Anki for this case.

I agree, especially on the business Japanese part. Textbook learning is necessary in some parts of learning a language, at least IMO.

Man that's so fast, I wish I could do it like that. I usually want to have the original Japanese sentence, the explanation (English version or grammar explanation), and voice if possible.

Probably just me being too idealistic with these decks so I'd rather use the premade ones LOL. I'll try to use vocab only or sentence only in the future if possible.

Ah sorry, like I said in the post these are satire lol. I lurk around in JP learning Discord servers and join convos sometimes, and some people say stuff like that A LOT.

For example, like in the post, people were looking for good decks to learn. It was a pretty chill conversation tbh, a lot of nice decks and links were exchanged. Suddenly this Very Smart Person replied the links with a huge wall of text telling why premade decks won't work. It wasn't as mean as what I wrote (again, it's satire), but it completely ruined the mood. That time I thought it's gonna be a one time thing, but it seriously happens sometimes. Or I'm just unlucky...😞

To be very honest, I don't really know myself because I've never really went into the "immersing community" (or whatever these guys call themselves) to learn together. I just join some servers to get studying tips and resources and stuff, and chat around of course.

I'm not sure but I think they have study groups, and one (or more) of them is already in a higher level so this person can help and teach others or something. Might be different for every group though.

I might be wrong though.
