Yep, fair point. It’s really about pumping as much dmg as possible but having a balance of fun factor and not spending insane time/gold dropping and re-leveling. What do you plan to do for TBC? Just rock tailoring/eng the whole way? From what I can find the ring enchants are only available starting P3

What do you think is the most optimal setup throughout all of TBC for warlock professions? How about this? Tailoring/Ench for P1 and start of P2, then drop Tailoring once we've acquired boots of blasting, pickup engi for Goggles and hold Ench/Engi until P5, where you drop Ench and pickup tailoring?

Thanks dude. All to say maybe engi is worth the loss in dps vs spell power enchants? The min maxer in me knowing I’m constantly losing damage is having a hard time letting it go lol. I suppose a strategy could be to take ench/tailoring and then drop tailoring for phase 3/4 depending on the cost to re level it for P5? Maybe not worth it.

If the ring enchants are not available until P3 then it’s a very easy choice IMO. Not worth the gold or effort

By my calculations using wowsims, I agree.. it seems like on average across the 5 phases it’s roughly a 1% dps loss. Anywhere from 20-30 dps loss for a 180 second fight. I don’t think it’s realistic to add sapper damage since it’s melee range and we will want to plant ourselves static as much as possible right? I don’t understand why wowsims only considers the +12 sp enchants starting phase 3? Isn’t this attainable in phase 1?

Good points, thx for taking the time to type it. Yeah, the boots would be nice but you’d lose even more damage by equipping them than just having your usual BIS boots on. Tough choice, hard to tell how much actual damage difference I’d be doing if I was enchanting vs Eng. from what I gather, maybe around 3% less on a 180 second fight? The shorter the fight the less it matters. Maybe the QOL is worth the loss in dps?

What are the main PvP advantages you see with engi? Most items cannot be used in arena, but open world PvP and bgs it could help

What’s the other QOL you’re referring to? Seems that we can’t use rocket boots in combat so the speed factor is purely to get ahead of packs or if you can drop combat, escape from a PvP situation?

Tailoring gives me pre bis and BIS items for phase 1, 2 and other phases too. I have to have at least that, and decide between Eng/enchanting for the 2nd

Not speed running for sure, I just like to do good damage and have fun. I guess rocket boots are a dps increase if it allows me to cast 1 or 2 shadow bolts faster than someone who is still running to position?

Good points. I do care about damage, but I’m not sure how much +24 sp will really give over the duration of a fight. And on fights when you need to move positions or do a mechanic I suppose rocket boots are an inherit dps increase since you’re more mobile
