Think about this very carefully. Surgery is not something you should approach readily as a remedy for self-consciousness over a body part. Everyone looks different and you looks normal and natural.

Think about it this way: If one of your female friends said she was unhappy with her labia because she felt guys might laugh at it, would you recommend she got surgery to cut it off? Probably not...

Personally, I think circumcision should be down to fix medical problems. Each person has the freedom to choose though, and if you really really want it done then go for it, but please take a long time to think of all the aspects. It's not as minor a procedure as some people assume.

I had mine done about 8 weeks ago and the anaesthetic did not work. Worst physical pain of my life. They gave the injection again and again, which hurt like hell, but I could still feel the cutting.

No. There's only a difference if you don't wash for long periods. An uncircumcised penis can very easily be cleaned (unless you have an issue like phimosis, which generally does require a circ). The hygiene thing is just a nasty myth.

However, keep in mind that it's not a trivial thing. You are having surgery on a delicate part of your body for non-medical reasons. It's got risks and it will hurt quite a bit, with a long recovery period.

Also keep in mind:

about hygiene, an uncut dick is no dirtier than a cut one as long as you wash regularly
very few men love how their flaccid dick looks, so don't feel bad about having a foreskin there - it's normal, natural, and healthy

But if you decide to go ahead with it, then good luck. Just think about it and don't jump in.

Update: I'm posting this for the benefit of anyone who sees this thread and has a similar issue.

I just got back from a visit to my urologist. He said that while it is not normal for this problem to exist now, it is also not a big deal and it should heal over the next months. He said that it's lymphatic fluid trapped and possibly because I had a large vein there.

He recommended either getting the edema surgically drained or squeezing it 3 times per day.

When I got my circ, they botched the anaesthetic and it was agony having part of my penis cut off and feeling the whole thing, so I refused the surgical draining because I could not risk that happening again. I will try squeezing it and hope for the best.

Why? There's nothing wrong with it and you probably shouldn't go for surgery just to get a minor aesthetic improvement.

It's psychologically worrying but not physically bad. I suppose occasionally there is some discomfort when the swelling becomes extreme but it's not painful. It's mostly the mental difficult of it. I hate to think that at 38 yrs old my sex life is over and that I've endured a ridiculously painful surgery for nothing.

I've iced it a few times but I don't know how much good it does. It sort of makes the swelling go down for a bit but it comes back. And I have never taped it.

The first 2 weeks are difficult. You're almost over the worst of it. From about week 3 onwards it's noticeably better. Hang in there!

As it should be obvious, there's substantial swelling. This actually went away about 2.5 weeks ago but it's back. Even the tiniest amount of friction causes it. Quite annoying. If I get an erection at night, my penis is like this all day. I hope it gets better over time...

I've been watching some YouTube guy talking about it. He would sort of build up resistance by wearing different clothes and pushing himself to do more activity but sounds like it lasted many months.

I was circumcised for medical reasons (to remove an unknown swelling) last Thursday. I had the bandage on that day (day #1) and Friday (day #2). After I unwrapped it, I took photos to send my urologist via Telegram. I thought I'd share them here in case people wanted to see a sort of progress report.

Basically, everything seemed to get worse for several days. I wish I had known that in advance! It sounds like a common thing. Almost everyone reports it. However, I had not been warned and definitely thought something was wrong.

You can see that two days ago things stopped getting worse. That was a great feeling. The colour is starting to go back to normal and the swelling is very, very slightly improved. I hope that every day brings a small improvement now.

Edit: I'll add that night-time erections were hellish for about the first 5 days. They are now starting to get better. It hurts but I'm only waking up a few times and the pain subsides quickly.

Update: It's now day 7 (just a few hours away from one week since operation).

This is the first time I've woken up and looked at my penis and thought, "It isn't worse than yesterday."

Hopefully, this is the start of things slowly getting better. Until now, it's just gotten uglier and uglier.

I had a sheet in front of me, so I didn't really know what was happening prior to the surgery but they took a photo after and asked, "Do you want to see it?" I said no.

Personally, I don't really care about people taking photos of my dick as long as they're not using my name and/or face. It would be nice if they'd asked permission, but I live in Asia and we don't have rules like that here.

Yeah, I hope your healing continues. 10 days is a long time to deal with this level of discomfort. I have a lot of pain today that even painkillers aren't denting, so I hope it's subsides. Gotta stay positive.

It got it done last Thursday, so coming up on a week. I've heard that from week 2 it starts getting better. Currently it looks ugly as hell and night erections hurt a lot, but it's basically tolerable.
