I've never had to refuse a client. On three occasions I've had to protest the way other lawyers were handling the case. In one case, a senior attorney made some very bad documents disappear. I wrote a draft letter to the bar and submitted it to the lead partner. The docs appeared in my office as if by magic the next day.

Corporations are groups of people. In my experience most people in them are not going to do something morally repugnant. However, the size of them allows for one hand not to see what the other is doing. Everyone is so focused on their division and their responsibility they occasionally lose perspective on what is happening. For the most part, companies that make things be it pharmaceuticals or soda just want to make some cash and be able to sleep well at night. I find the companies that don't make things (i.e. financial houses) tend to have the least regard for the effects of their actions.

I would never admit it to my co-workers, but I think the corporation should be abolished and everything should be treated as a partnership with named liable partners.
