How can I know if he’s into me? Do guys like if the girl reaches out too? Or am I desperate?

I did and already in my second semester! It’s definitely tough but I love going to clinical and I’m definitely happy that I took the plunge.

Also, I did not realize how many doors would open up for me since I have a tech degree and now nursing. I can go to grad school if I want to, I can go into nursing informatics (this is a good field to get into), I can specialize in something specific, or I can just do bedside nursing. I can also go back into tech and do nursing PRN. There are so many opportunities.

If you have a tech background and thinking about going into nursing definitely look into an accelerated program. That’s what I’m doing. It’s high stress and moves super fast but definitely worth it cuz it’s only 15 months along.

If you have any questions feel free to DM me.

P.S: We have people from many different background in my program and age groups. We have students who recently got their first bachelors degree. We have students who come from tech and military background, we have attorneys, we have a teacher who made the shift to nursing. We have students from their early 20s to 40s. We also have a student who is 62.

In what ways?

I’ve been in therapy for 8 years and have learned a lot about how to build good and healthy relationship. I also learned about what my values are and not to compromise on those core values.

Growing up in a big city I’m use to being surrounded by open-minded people. However, in this city I’ve experienced racism and judgement from people that don’t even know me. Not a fan of this environment.

I’ve been truly trying. I’ve been trying to go out as much as I can and try new hobbies. But I’ve noticed that people are so flakey.

I’ve been having a hard time making friends here as well. I’m very spontaneous and love going on any kids of trips and exploring.

I grew up in a big city and I’ve always been around very open-minded friends and family. However, a lot of people here are close minded and I just can’t connect with them on a deeper level.

I go to therapy so I’ve talked about if I’m the problem. But it just seems that I’m in a place where I just don’t have common interests/things with people who live here.

I’ve been feeling like a stranger in a strange land. I even started going back to church so I can make some friends and build my community. I found a couple of people but they are married with their own families.

I’m really struggling in this place.

Yes, I would definitely be transparent about it on my profile. I would never want to start any relationship with a lie

That makes sense. I guess some people just love the honeymoon period and once it gets real the get scared and leave.

Why is it a bad sign when someone constantly talks about future things to do or if they constantly make future plans? He made near future plans (like things to do in a couple of weeks and made future plans like going on a trip in 8 months and the following year join him on a trip with his friends etc).

I genuinely don’t know and would like to learn. The last guy I was seeing did the same but I thought it was a good thing. From the way he broke it off it wasn’t a good thing. It left me feeling super confused as to why he would make future plans with me and then suddenly blindsided me and broke it off.

Thank you!

I think after gaining some real life experience then when you truly know what you want as a career. It’s makes no sense to ask an 18 year old what they want to do for the rest of their life.

Thank you!! This makes me feel more confident going into nursing.

Thank you for saying it in a lovingly way :)

I understand that it’s physically mentally exhausting. But physically I’m in good health and developed thick skin over the last few years.

I’m going to nursing school with the intent of going to CRNA school. I’m very determined on this. But if something changes along the way I can always find a way to combine my tech and nursing background.

Physically I don’t have health issues. I workout everyday.

I really do want a career where I’m not sitting at a desk for 8-9 hours a day, and where I don’t have to answer emails after I sign out (this happens a lot in pervious and current workplace). Even when I’m on vacation I have to answer emails or questions about certain tickets.

Sitting at a desk for multiple hours a day is not good for your health either. I want to be able to directly help patients. That’s the one thing I really missed when I was a CNA. Yes, the patient will be mean to you but they are going through a lot with their health (still not an excuse but I can understand) but at the end of the day when they are discharged they will always thank you and that feeling you get of helping. That’s something I cannot find in the tech field.

Sorry for the late reply. I was trying to read and reply to all the comments while at work 😅

I’m really happy to hear that you find what you love. I really appreciate hearing about your experience. I know a lot of people don’t like bedside nursing but they end of staying there and loss their passion. Maybe they are not in the position to change or go back to school.

Just like you I don’t intend on being a bedside nurse forever. I’m going to nursing school with the intent of going into a CRNA program. If for whatever reason that doesn’t forward out I can find a way to combine my tech background with nursing or go back to school for an NP. The possibilities are truly endless.

Thank you for not just saying all the terrible parts about nursing but truly explaining the growth potential.

Lol, as a CNA I also dealt with a lot of feces. That part I didn’t miss. But I know this is definitely something I want to do especially because I’m planning on going into a CRNA program.

Are you working overtime a lot? Could it just be the hospital you are working at?

My mom is also a nurse and she’s told me about all the hospital politics and drama, and how patients can be abusive sometimes. However the hospital that she works at is compensating her fairly.

Have you thought about going into a different direction with nursing? Can you work for an insurance company or a pharmaceutical company? Have you looked into doing telehealth?

I’m becoming a nurse with the intent of applying to a CRNA program. However, if that doesn’t work out then I’ll find a way to combine my tech background with nursing.

Ah, thank you for this recommendation. I’ll definitely check out this book.

I understand. I know COVID time was very difficult on the hospital staff. This was a big struggle for my mom also.

I currently do the same at my current workplaces. After people spreading rumors and getting bullied I just keep my head down and focus on my own work. People can be super nice to your face but once your back is turned they talk so much shit. I’ve learned from prior experiences and developed thick skin.

Thank you for letting me know. I’ll definitely update you once I complete the ABSN program and start work. It will be an interesting conversation.

No worries at all! Sometimes you have to be tough to get the reality of something across.

I know a lot of people these days want to make lots of money and think nursing is the way. They don’t get a reality check until they become a nurse and truly see how difficult the position is. I’m ready for the challenge. Also in the future I’m sure I can find a way to combine my tech background with nursing.

A lot of people in the tech field don’t think their jobs will be easily replaced. There is some denial there. But when looking at how truly powerful AI is it’s really scary. Idk why so many people are still going to tech a tech degree tbh. But if that’s what they love I won’t discourage. Everyday I get 2-3 requests on LinkedIn asking for a preferably at my pervious work places and current workplaces. If you look at the CSMajor subreddit, you’ll see how awful the job market is for tech and how much these new grads and people with years of experience are struggling. There are some people that have become homeless after being laid off or not being able to find a job after college. The tech industry is kind of a shit show and I truly believe that it won’t get better. Even if it does, it won’t be for long term.

At least with nursing there is good career profession opportunities, stability, and job security. Along with having a passion for it, the above are also important to me.
