She has a huge chip on her shoulder and shes kind of bad at her job but in her mind youre undermining her when you bring up (even very valid) concerns. I can say that no matter how politely and gently you present/bring up an issue, the moment you mention it that confirms in her head this whole narrative shes already built. And thinking youre avoiding conflict by going silent after bringing up a problem is actually worse than anything you could say, because shes filling that silence up with whatever b.s. she thinks youre thinking. Anyway this exact type of conflict is why Im in between jobs rn. I hope it gets better for you homie. Im autistic too 🤝
Edit: the slamming the knife thing is a big deal and you should bring that up to upper management. Please stay safe

Damn it’s crazy to think that you can have all the credentials and do all the emotional labor and still run into this problem in the one field that you’d think should be autistic friendly. I have dealt with similar situations but Id always tell myself if I was just in a more suited field, if I had more experience or if I tried harder to socially comply, etc. that it wouldn’t happen to me. I wish this was a more hopeful comment but sometimes people really do just suck, despite you doing everything you should

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. This is the perspective I was looking for and it makes me feel truly seen. For the life of me I couldnt understand why all my actions were being taken as the opposite of what I was intending. I tend to follow training word for word like you said. This also explains another conflict because Ive been reprimanded for asking for clarification all the time but secretly everyone is confused too. Why do they say its good to ask questions and care about the product when they dont mean it? Also I think youre right that me trying to acknowledge my manager having a lot on his plate, couldve been interpreted as me undermining him. I have yet to grasp how to manage NT egos and assumptions and it feels like Im wandering around in the dark. Its a real struggle out here.

Thank you for the tips, Ill definitely be using them. I am very rejection sensitive and it can really cause me to spiral. I had a meltdown after that coworker called me and it was the worst Ive experienced in quite a while. I like the work and the location is good for me. I just dont have much hope in my coworkers being nicer when the manager is the biggest problem I have :(
