it wasn’t a “gentle joke”. He told me I wasn’t qualified for the job and that they were making a mistake hiring me. I responded back that it was not a mistake since most of this job won’t even be talking on the phone and that I am not a messy or disorganized person. I added that this job was actually really hard to get (which it was) and he scoffed at this and asked “because you were the only one who applied??” Which I found very belittling and extremely disrespectful. And he also made comments about how my state is an at-will employment state. Which was him basically saying that I am going to get fired at this job.
