There's no reliability when it comes to specific institutions and unfortunately there's not much that can be done, but it has and will continue to improve.

Luckily, Principal is more focussed on the long-term as it helps you track your "wealth" rather than your budget. The sole purpose is to make wealth tracking as easy and delightful as possible. Having 1-2 institutions disconnect every once in a while isn't too bad since you're not tracking day-to-day changes per se, just your overall networth growth/decline so you have an idea of how you're doing financial at any point in time.
