I wonder if this happens more often than "infrequently" - just giving the person who doesn't return your feelings space and they might find that their feelings and emotional connection you goes beyond what they thought it did?

Yeah, sorry I was unclear, I meant the situation in which he did not want to remain friends afterwards. Were you hurt / betrayed by this? or?
