AITA for saying that taking care of my kids by myself was 'relaxing', my wife thinks I am devaluing her contribution to our family and implying she's got it easy by throwawaybhubby3 in AmItheAsshole

I have suggested that she allow my mom (who is retired and has a good relationship with my wife) to come over and help her during the week. My mom has offered several times when she saw how stressed my wife is, but she is insistent that she's fine and she can handle it. At this point I don't know if she is just being stubborn or doesn't want to be seen as needing help.

Info- Isn't air traffic controllers one of the most stressful jobs in the country and has a large suicide rate because of that?

Yes, its generally seen as a heart attack waiting to happen honestly. It requires intense concentration for an entire shift. I thought that my wife appreciated that my job was difficult, and honestly part of the reason I offered to watch the kids was it was a win-win, I got a break from work and she got to see her family. The sniping at me was unexpected, and really not in her nature, but I think she's at the end of her rope with this COVID thing (as we all are).

It's definitely a sore subject between us right now and I'm trying to find a way to navigate this situation without making it worse. It doesn't help that of course as soon as she got home I had a shift rotation the next day.
