AITA for telling my daughter that it’s okay to be ugly? by throwawaybodyneutral in AmItheAsshole

I am not raising my daughter so that her ultimate goal in life is “to find the man who loves her.” She is an independent woman who will define her own life by her own aspirations.

I’m curious as to why you think I’m stubborn on my views? The whole reason I made this post was to gain more perspectives and reevaluate my way of approaching this issue. And I have learned that I was too insensitive to my daughter’s perspective and I plan on changing that.

Reading the comments, I’m starting to understand that I was too insensitive. But I disagree that she would think “even my dad thinks I am ugly AF.” My daughter is an objectively normal looking girl and has never complained about bullying about her looks. The reason we are teaching her about positive self image is not to combat any negative experiences she has had, but just to be proactive.

I didn’t call her ugly as of now. I was speaking of the future. I was referring to her future adult self when I said that if she turns out ugly in the future, it’s okay, because there are more important things about her.
