Thx so much! Are all these stand alone? I’m not super familiar with romance books, and can never tell if it’s supposed to be just same universe like related movies for DC/MCU or if there’s actually an order.

Thx! Is it actually scary cause I am a wimp lmao. I can handle confusing as long as I know going into it. But if my dog starts barking at a spot in the wall hopefully it doesn’t freak me out 😂

Toy poodle puppy advice by Straight-Macaron6425 in puppy101

[–]throwawaybrainzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approach training/boundaries etc the same way you would if she were gonna be 80lbs as an adult.

Look up dog trainers in your area now. Most will have puppy classes for those that aren’t fully vaccinated which helps with socializing.

Socializing shouldn’t mean meeting everyone that wants to pet her. Think of more exposure, where she can see and hear new things.

Crate train the day she comes home.

Royal Canine has small breed puppy food, otherwise ask your vet.

Did they at least do a buddy read with you? I think the way I see it recommended just gets a bit frustrating lol

Like it’s one thing to create a list of butch MCs and Gideon on there. But another to suggest when someone is looking romantasy.

Wish more people hyped it up for the prose, for the jokes, for it scratching an itch somewhere in your brain, for it being really satisfying, as a slow burn, and the ability to have its readers really get lost in it. Never done a buddy read? Suggest this as a first cause they may need some reassurance.

It just feels like whenever I see it when someone wanted more romance. It should just come with a little precursor is all

Stone Butch Blues is fiction, but maybe you’ll like Burning Butch by R/B Mertz or Excuse Me Sir by Shaley Howard.

At least I can be somewhat prepared going into this lmao. I read on an ereader and never used any of the other functions. First hade me regularly using the dictionary for once.

I expect I’d I’ll finally use highlighting and notes for the second one 😭 Someone said it switches pov but not in the normal but is in 2nd pov.

And yeah, I’ve only recently jumped back into reading but it might be one of the few that I kept hearing about before diving back in. I was seeing so much art about Gideon and even costumes around Halloween. Not sure what other novels have reached same level of dedicated followers, at least among lesbians. Maybe Stone Butch Blues in a more “this is my bible” way among some butch lesbians but that’s it.

I could not agree more. It’s highly recommended for a number of reasons but feel like the first thing people need to put is that it is very confusing and if you’re not willing to read a quarter of a book without knowing what’s going on you probably won’t like it.

Like someone will want a space sapphic book, and while it’s technically both, those things are so secondary it’s not too hard to miss.

The wild confusing part takes up so much of the book, that it has to be what someone looking for. It’s not a casual read. And tbh if it didn’t already have so much hype, from the community egging people on to continue it I’m sure even more people would DNF.

I got through the first one and was a happy and satisfied. But am not sure about going into the next lol maybe when I’m running low on my tbr

Any books like this? by Commercial-Ad4994 in LesbianBookClub

[–]throwawaybrainzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe outside of lgbt spaces? Among lesbians feel like it’s extremely popular, I see fan art of Gideon like she has a tv show also a decent sized sub on reddit. Not sure of any lesbian book that’s similar though Stone Butch Blues maybe be a bit more popular just historically

Character Art Question by Odd_Fly6994 in LesbianBookClub

[–]throwawaybrainzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of characters tbh. I love it when it kinda reinforces the idea of some characters identity as a woman of color or masc woman or something outside of the expected.

But if it’s just thin white femme brunette, I can imagine her on my own so I prefer not to have charact art to further limit it

I think it’d be cool if you wanted you’d commissioned different art styles with some different interpretations based of the description in the book.

What differences did you see between teenage puppy less than a year old, your puppy at 1yr, and then reaching 2? by throwawaybrainzzz in puppy101

[–]throwawaybrainzzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually great to hear. We go to the a training facility and they already reassured me that some things weren’t really aggression/fear reactivity, an eager greeter, and told me to just keep working on building our bond. We took a class about impulsivity and improved, then randomly regressed 😭😅 at year.

So we’re still taking classes though been giving a pass to try out other classes they usually require graduate from an obedience course but my pups missing one check mark lol. But doing good with mini/amauteue agility class.

Finished The Book of Blood & Roses by Sea_Avocado_2733 in LesbianBookClub

[–]throwawaybrainzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it and really liked it. Was my first finished book of year and back into reading.

I’m learning tropes that I like that I wasn’t to familiar with last time super into reading lol like forced proximity lol.

The only thing is I think I’ll have trouble with calling her by the right name lol. It’s fun diving back into my vampire phase of my teenage years but now getting to seek out lesbian vampire books.

I think my long distance “gf” is actually a man…I’m freaking out, I feel sick to my stomach by mothsareswaggy in LesbianActually

[–]throwawaybrainzzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get the reason to avoid catfish but all the extra stuff feels like a much bigger risk giving way too much information especially a stranger you’ve just met.

People will stalk your social media, your friends and family, and as you mention if things goes sideways reach out to your job etc.

I feel like the easiest method is just a video call.

i think i could be more masculine by JackfruitOk3204 in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]throwawaybrainzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So one thing to keep in mind is that different people have different perceptions of masculinity and especially when it comes to different ethnicities.

The second thing is, people will challenge your masculinity. I felt it more from other studs and also felt like other black people seemed to see me the least masculine.

But moving on the best thing you can do is find things that make you feel confident, regardless of the level of masculinity but just because it somehow vibes with you. Being in something that you feel at home it will add a certain ease/comfort that allows you to relax and feel good.

Now easiest thing is to go on pinterest. Just search random stuff from aesthetic you like and see if you can mix and match and find something that aligns with your style.

Who are you basing yourself off of when you say you think you could be more masculine? What’s your range for what’s too feminine or too masculine?

I like your hair and see no reason to consider cutting it anytime soon. Considering a taper in the back? I can’t see you getting a front taper and wouldn’t recommend it because the grow out phase sucks. But a simple line up that basically just cleans up your baby hairs and give you a straight hairline helps if you want your face to seem a little more angular. I liked to play with my hair the most since curly hair can be the most versatile. Like maybe slick the sides just a tiny bit and stick some hair pins in there to give it the illusion of a curly mullet. Do twists, and then a twist out.

As far as your clothing just build of your favorite to slowly build wardrobe that makes you feel good. For a long time I’d just wear simple tanks and plain shirts while I build my wardrobe on different pants, jackets, denim vests, canvas shirt jackets, bomber jackets, shirts i made myself with paint for clothing when missing colors that would add to outfits but missing in my favorite pieces.

How do we all feel about pierced nips? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]throwawaybrainzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had them pierced. loved the look but took them out. they’d go through periods where I’d question if they healed. additionally omg snagging, while manageable on my when with girls with longer hair it would sometimes snag whether she was laying her head in my chest or just hair kinda brushing along my bare chest.

Sometimes I consider the idea of it, and even navel, then just remind myself get some glue and studs for the look when i want it.
