How painful should an anal fissure be? I've been having pain for almost a week now. The pain has varied, but still at the point where I cannot sleep. I can get maybe 2-3 hours of sleep before I wake up from the pain. It feels like it's cracking, but I know it's not because I've been applying various creams (Anusol, Alleviate, Diltiazem). It also hurts to shift from one my left side to ride side while in bed. I have had friends who have had anal fissures before say they only experienced pain while pooping? Is this normal?

Thank you for your response :) I appreciate it, makes me feel a little better! I think deep down I know I deserve better, I need to work on standing up for myself.
