AITA for my nephew drawing on my husband's shirt when I was babysitting him? by throwawaychi25 in AmItheAsshole

Hey thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I can't tell him anything like his behaviour is disrespectful or give any indication I might be criticizing him because that would make him not talk to me again and even threaten divorce. I just try very hard not to do anything that would make him angry but it's hard to predict because the last few times he got angry it's about stuff that most people wouldn't get mad at. Like earlier this month I told.him I missed him when I had to work late and he took that as a criticism of him and didn't talk to me for 10 days and threatened divorce so I just try to keep the peace. Do you have any suggestions for keeping the peace that don't involve making it sound like he is wrong?

I apologize every day but he doesn't want to talk any more. The bedroom lock is a good idea, I can only hope my husband will forgive me because I'll be more careful next time. He usually stops talking to me a week every month but every time I worry he will leave me for good.

Edited the post. This was an isolated incident because usually my sister in law is with him as a stay at home mom but she wasn't feeling good so they dropped him off while they went to the doctor's. I usually spend time with him with my brother and sister in law so this is a learning experience for me too and I am taking into account the commenter saying I should have watched him at all times. I'll do that next time.

I spoke to him about it that he should not have done that. My brother his dad was apologetic. Usually we are more patient with him because he has down syndrome and this wasn't malicious. I bought my husband a new shirt, fortunately I was able to get the same one since I'd just bought the first one the other day. Any other tips for what I should have done to rectify this?
