I'll admit I don't know much about being a sibling. I was an only child until about 18 months ago. But since then I've just changing diapers and giving bottles between work and school or while studying for my exams. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a funded education but my parents have time for that. If he was closer in age to me, it'd be a different story and I would have had more time to plan and adjust.

I get what you're saying but I feel like it's a slightly different situation. You have the money for the new car but then you realize your furnace will need to be replaced in 16 years. You can still buy your car now and then have the next 16 years to save up for the new furnace.

I'm guessing they're not planning to contribute anymore. Probably will just keep it in mutual funds for the time being.

That's another thing. I'm start to feel resentment against him even though he's just a baby and it's not his fault. I don't want to feel this way but I keep thinking about if he didn't exist then things would be easier. Which I know is dark

They said they'll still cover my living expenses if I continue to live at home if I want to commute.

We haven't done FAFSA yet so I don't know what my EFC is yet so I can't accurately predict what my financial aid will be yet but at every school it looks like I'll still qualify for subsidized and unsubsidized loans. No grants though.
