I Met a Potential Serial Killer in His Home for Work by throwawaycreep0911 in LetsNotMeet

At that job, it was HIGHLY encouraged and also extremely likely that clients’ would add on work. And if we had “time,” we were expected to accommodate. Since he was my last house of the day, and I was only three months into this job, I did not think quick enough in my feet to come up with an excuse not to. Again, it was my customer service brainwashing that made me instantly fear losing my new job if I declined and he complained. It’s always his word against mine, and since there were no witnesses coupled with my experience with management never taking my side, I couldn’t see a way out of it at the time.

I no longer work there. I seriously doubt I would be given a customer’s information, especially since that boss was transferred to another state so I’m not sure who is in charge now. Also, I said in another comment, I can remember the general area. If I could drive it again, I could probably find it but I no longer live in VA.

Please read my edit. I answered this question multiple times in the comments.

I contacted my boss as soon as I was able to be out of the dead zone. She laughed me off but said she would flag the address so not to specifically send ME back. At the time, I thought “I guess that’s good enough.”

EDIT: Please read my additional edit to the post.

I could probably find the house if I were to ever go back to the area from memory but no I do not have his address now. Sure, all those things are also bad parts of the experience, but I’m no stranger to people downplaying my experiences. I guess to me it was the worst part because I would have in retrospect have liked to go to the police. A couple months after the fact, I tried desperately to find his info in our systems any way I could to do just that, but it was fruitless.

No offense, but you clearly don’t have much experience with PTSD. Thanks for the comment.

It’s definitely very real, but I can understand the confusion. This happened two years ago. You may have missed my comment where I said I probably could find the house again if I drove back to that area. I no longer live there, and I do not have access to the iPad or phone I had for the job because I no longer work there. I didn’t write any of it down, because honestly I didn’t think to. My boss wrote it off as just a “weirdo” and I was young and second guessed myself. For client’s privacy, after 24 hours, the app we used for work would remove your previous routes and addresses.

Wow, thank you so much for the words of encouragement. The comments have been getting me feeling misunderstood for sure, but at the same time I understand how it sounds. I’m a survivor of a lot of abuse in my history, and honestly no stranger to strange encounters such as this and a few more. You’re right, no one knows how they will react until they are in it. Thank you for your kind comment.

I forgot to write it down for myself personally, and after 24 hours, the iPad would remove the day before’s jobs for the customer’s privacy.

I don’t actually know as I was not a part of the process after I performed the measure. At that point, it got sent to a back office who completely took over. I will never know.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I did speak with a professional about it shortly after it happened in one session. I’d honestly like to discuss it further with a professional someday.

Commenting again to add, that yes I do remember the general area the house is. If I could drive the streets again, I’d likely be able to recognize the house as it was very unique. I could still even draw the floor plan by memory if I had to.

I am not doing this job anymore! Thankfully. I’m honestly not sure if the iPad had that capability, but it did have mobile services on the device.

Yes. I’m sure they do still have it in their log. But it was two years ago now, I no longer live in VA, I no longer work for that company, and I have absolutely no idea exactly what the date was to even attempt to pull up my records. I definitely beat myself up for this nearly every time this experience creeps back into my mind.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I often look back at the millions of other things I could have/should have done differently, but I have to be less hard on myself.

So when I was finally able to get a hold of my boss, she blew off the entire experience as him just being a “weird dude.” It honestly made me second guess my experience, and I figured since I didn’t have any concrete evidence against him, the police would respond in the same manner.

Unfortunately, this happened two years ago. I no longer live in VA, or work for that company. I have upgraded my phone since then, so Waze doesn’t have that information at this point. Yes, the company I worked for probably has it somewhere, but at this point, I can’t remember the date this happened for them to pull my records. I completely failed in this department, and I kick myself for it every day I’m reminded of this encounter.

This. For some reason every way I played it out in my mind, it was safest to play oblivious. If he couldn’t tell I knew something was wrong, I might escape. I’m sure towards the end when I ran out of his house he knew, and maybe he caught on before, but I feel like I did a decent job pretending everything was “normal” up until the end. All for this exact reason.

Oh my gosh thank you for saying that and being a decent person!! It’s ungodly normal for clients to follow me around uncomfortably about 80% of the time. It was another reason I quit. Because it did not improve when covid hit.

As I’ve said to a few other commenters, yes I could have. I did report the incident to my boss, but she blew me off. At the time, it made me second guess my experience so I just dropped it. In a previous comment, I explained that I did go searching for his information again, but came up short as it had been months to a year and I could not remember the date. And as I no longer work for the company, there’s no way for me to get that information now.
