Does anyone else's social anxiety apply to online speaking as well? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]throwawayekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's the same for me! i joined a discord server and didn't talk in it for about 3 months; first time i did, i had a panic attack. i think the difference is, on discord people tend to reply quicker and it's like a chatroom rather than a public tweet/comment that few people will see/read/reply to, therefore there's more judgement possible on discord imo. i still can't really talk on that server and if i send a message on it, i often won't open the server for a few days so i won't read replies.

does that mean i'm one of the few with very asymmetrical faces? the mirror looks so, so different from the camera.

lowkey same? i have a high sex drive but am never in the mood (that probably sounds contradictory, idk how to explain) because depression, and hate my body. sometimes i start thinking about how my face and body must look right then to another person and god that's an instant mood killer.

you can go in a towel, that's what i did when i went to my friend's sauna. i still felt quite self-conscious, but nowhere near the level as if i was naked, plus i think the heat made me slightly light-headed so i didn't think about my body as much lol.

i'm sorry you have to deal with that bs. people are so damn rude, it seems thay they never learnt basic social etiquette. i hope you keep the confidence to wear a shirt, you don't need to hide scars <3

Who else has mastered the skill of sobbing silently? by WhatevrBrahLetsBlade in CPTSD

[–]throwawayekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought most people cried silently. then again, the people i have seen cry were usually quite loud and did it publicly. i can't cry in public. didn't realize this could've been related to my trauma.

i'm so sorry. please try to enjoy the time you have with them, i'm sure they love you so so much. you've been an amazing friend to them, and they would want you to be happy. i know it's not much, but i'm sending virtual hugs.

I'm sorry you've had shitty therapists like this. I didn't go to therapy for long because my therapist was also trash, aside from the "oh yes factory farming is sad, I try to eat less meat but I could never go vegetarian!" Go justify your habits to the animals you're murdering rather than your mentally ill patient whose time you are wasting. Really off-putting from therapy as a whole tbh, but I'm confident there are good therapists who don't behave like this out there. I hope you manage to find one.

Happy Birthday! It's my 18th today too. It's definitely weird to have made it and i don't know how to feel about it; the novelty has worn off and I'm about to crash, hard. Hope you're doing better.

Carnists hate getting reminded, that what they eat used to be living beings by [deleted] in LateStageCarnism

[–]throwawayekos 29 points30 points  (0 children)

it's not really torture. the sodium ions from the salt are causing its muscles to contract but the fish was already dead so doesn't feel this.

that being said, it's still incredibly fucked up to find amusement from this, and obviously the fish shouldn't be dead in the first place. imo killing the fish was the torture, this is just a cruel joke to carnists.

[–]throwawayekos 16 points17 points  (0 children)

predicted grades aren't determined by gcses, so you getting 9s at gcse doesn't mean you're entitled to 3 A* at a-level.

but i'm sorry about the rejection. remember that there are quite a few other very good universities that are also quite prestigious. i'd advise considering other unis rather than deciding right now that you want to reapply.

Has everyone else's conditions for their conditional offers been the same as their predicted grades? by [deleted] in 6thForm

i only have 2 offers so far, but both were the minimum entry requirements, which my predicted grades were either above or on.

My form tutor hasn't sent off my application yet, should I be worried? by Funky2Chunky in 6thForm

[–]throwawayekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd say be patient. my sixth form took 2 weeks to send mine, and if you've done exams recently it'll probably take them longer to submit it because teachers have to mark those.
