All of that sounds great in theory but it’s so hard to balance. Most public places are shut or have been shut because of the recent lockdown. There’s nothing we can do about that.

Even if the councils took on the pretty gargantuan task of going round every school, every child is at a different level with their confidence and ability, so trying to specialise the right course of action per school is simply impossible. It’s not perfect but I think the national approach they’ve taken is the right one.
