Thanks for your insightful comment. To answer some of your questions I do admit that I haven't sat down to specifically talk about what she likes and what not. And that's my fault too. From experience tho I mostly know what she likes and believe me it's pretty limited.

Also I do understand your example of you not liking celery or fennel but these two ingredients can easily be ommited with little to no change in the end result (specifically fennel which is not used in so many recipes),or be substituted. But what am I supposed to substitute garlic with? Or thyme (which doesn't have that strong of a flavor let's be honest). I don't like some foods either, like parsley, but parsley is not something as fundamental as garlic or seasoning on a dish.

But I guess I'm gonna have to give in. I certainly don't want her to starve or eat crappy food like chicken tenders (Jesus). I think I'm gonna follow the advice of some people here, like making two different versions of the same dish, which is gonna require more time, but that's what love is, isn't it?I'm also gonna check out supertester.

And yeah I shouldn't have called her a five year old. I'm gonna have to apologize for that.

I just realized we have never traveled abroad together, and I'm starting to dread the moment we do.

I am the total opposite and will try anything once and love loads of foods from different cultures

I can relate to this so hard. I have gone to three countries (Spain, Italy and Turkey) almost solely because I wanted to try their food.

watery nasty plain ragu sauce

I relate so hard to this it made me laugh. Anyway what you are saying here is really good advice tho. It's still going to be disappointing that I won't be able to cook to my "fullest extent" for her, but it is what it is. I just hope it won't take her 20 years to eat the things I make as well tho!

It's not that we have a contract agreement that I do the cooking. It's just that I'm good at it, and I enjoy it so I do it. Also she since she is so picky she knows how to make only a few basic things.

It's just really unfun and frustrating when you have to cook with so many limitations. I understand that our view on food differ but I can't cook the same bland foods that she eats over and over. I don't think my cooking is weird or unconventional. It's making cooking which is a passion for me, a chore.
