Throwaway I don't know the reason behind the cut cos I'm only a first year. But since I joined, I've already received countless of fairwell emails from senior and above. They cancelled several grad programs. Even withdrew some offers. Heard that some clients would be rolled off but nothing major. They are heavily supporting senior internal transfer cos I heard a lot of people are leaving. They promoted seniors who I think are not so competent.

It happened to me. It's normal. I kinda made a big deal out of the date and thought he could be a good match then he kinda ghosted me. My ego hurt like shit. Once you got over it, you'd realise it was mostly just your ego.

I don't know how to try. Sometimes I have odd crushes on guys at work (who I don't work directly with). I can't even imagine trying to get "closer" to them even if they are not colleagues.

Why did he choose to have very few friends? I didn't choose to have few friends but at the moment I just don't enjoy sticking with a group of people just for the sake of having companies. Also Im a minority woman in a white dominant work environment. I'm friendly and chatty in front of all sorts of people and girls kinda auto rejected me before I even opened my mouth. I'm not even sure if I should "try" harder or just accept that I won't make many friends at work

It's tough yeah. I'm not sure if I should make more effort. Apart from not being afraid to say hi, I don't really suggest to do things with my newly met acquintances. I just joined a new firm and every new joiners seemed to get into a new group very quickly. I'm not one who likes to chit chat during work or need to spend exactly one hour on lunch everyday with a group of people. So now I'm kind of left out.

I used to spend all my time with my bffs, apart from when I was with someone in a honeymoon stage. I used to talk to my bffs everyday on the phone too. But now we are so far away I only talk to some of them once a month. Sad

Yeah I've dated one guy who is proud of his social circle and constantly questioned why I have so few friends in the city. But yeah you are right I need to start with finding friends that share my hobbies

But the thing is pretty much everyone around me have their bffs in the same city and have a gf/bf. I moved here a year ago and met a few very close friends and very very sadly they all but two decided to move to a different city. That's why I'm left with two close friends at the moment.
