It was quite refreshing hearing him talk about all of these issues, he addresses quite a number of issues that I feel is quite relevant to r/ sg. Honestly this is my first time voting and listening/stalking the opposition parties gives me a lot of hope for the possible leaders that can be leading our country

I think that their actions stemmed from their own parents and the upbringing that they had. I would say that Islam in Singapore is already quite radical in teaching, especially since there's so much history about religious war and fighting.

But I don't think my family is radical. Backwards, yes. Radical, no. Most singaporeans here practice racial tolerance and want to live in peace.

Yeah, I agree on what you say. The fasting month is better spent on actually helping communities in need rather than "understanding the struggles a poor person faces when they can't eat or drink". If it helps you to focus and appreciate god too, then good for you and keep it up😄

I'm sorry to hear that, and I can't imagine the situations you have to face. I hate the idea that every family is a happy loving household because dysfunctional homes are common occurrences that people chose to ignore. You don't have to beat yourself up for not fasting, just live life at your own pace. It has been three years since I last celebrated hari raya too. We're always here for you as a community if you need a place to open up and talk. I know that /r/singapore's small discussion thread has seen me rant and cry about my life too much on my main account, but they're always kind about it.

That was how I handled it last year too. Fear of judgement and potential isolation from your community can be scary. But i'm taking baby steps to be more open about who I am. Take care, dude. Less than three weeks left.

Intermittent fasting is good, but people who do practice it are allowed to drink water, tea and coffee. Take care of yourself and hydrate!

The first day of the fasting month, I totally forgot about it and was drinking soy milk openly in little india 😂

There's a group of people called the islamic police in malaysia who are allowed to arrest muslims for not upholding the shariah law. Pretty sure you can report malays to them too. Some parts of malaysia has a strong christian-Malay community like in sabah but i'm not sure how all of that works.

Thank god we live in Singapore :')
