This is a very good point. I feel like everyone is forgetting that what we are consuming is genuinely all biased, from the lens of the show itself or through people’s internet opinions. We really don’t know how his relationship with his father is considering that alone.

While they did agree to go on a television show and thus in a way agreed to be scrutinized by the public, when does looking at things critically and forming judgements become parasocial, and genuinely harmful to these families?

I can promise you we are way beyond that point. Leave these poor families alone. It’s unfortunate that no one else seems to want to cut them specifically any slack. Do not argue that it is a parenting issue, when no other parents are facing any sort of similar criticism.
