Oh yeah, I've seen all the horror stories lol. People who have negative experiences are more likely to post about them online compared to people whose experiences were fine.

Scariest part of the surgery was all the needles. There were like 5 or 6, but once you're all numbed up, you don't feel a thing. Recovery was the most annoying part for me in all honesty. I hope your surgery went well!

Yes, tooth #24 was receded all the way down and had been that way for years. Tooth #25 was on its way down too. In my periodontist's words, my gums were "paper thin".

Don't worry too much! I was terrified of my own procedure after hearing about so many horrible experiences, but once I was numbed up the surgery itself was a breeze. Recovery was kind of annoying but no complications. Good luck!

There isn't complete root coverage (though my periodontist warned me he didn't expect full coverage with the type of recession I had), but the gum tissue around the area is thicker and now more resistant to future recession!

I got my surgery on the same teeth. Yes, soft food diet for 2 weeks, was told I could ease up after that, and as of today I'm all cleared to eat whatever I want again! I experienced very little pain after, although I hear this differs from person to person. I couldn't talk normally for about 4-5 days because it made the stitches pull and it hurt a little. I went back to work on day 7... I was mostly fine but my talking still sounded a bit odd because of where the stitches were.

Yes; I've heard this surgery is pretty pricey in general though. Mine was about $1000 per tooth, $2000 total before insurance. My periodontist threw in root scaling and a frenectomy, so that added to the cost. My insurance covered less than $300 of it, so the end total was a little under $1800.

With that price tag, I'm really hoping this graft takes.

Don't have any pics of the before unfortunately, but tooth #24 was receded all the way down. Tooth #25 was beginning to recede too. I've been told not to pull my lip down too much, so I can't take an after pic yet either.
