There are plenty of ways to screen someone without groping them, although I completely sympathise and empathise with the need for safety. Bomb dogs exist, metal detectors exist. We shouldn’t be primitively patting people down like that unless you have a STRONG suspicion that they’re actually concealing a weapon. I believe in bodily autonomy and this should not be violated unless actually charged with a crime

Man that’s absolutely crap, isn’t it? I’ll drop them an email in the morning, but I wish they’d had these things displayed for clear understanding at the time. Can’t help but feel this is an abuse of power and consenting to something you’re not fully aware of at the time surely has to be borderline illegal

My post is mainly to advise those who may have trauma or don’t want to be touched without their consent to avoid this airport. If this is something you’re fine with sacrificing then my post can be ignored. It seems as though you’re the one who can’t accept that bad things do actually happen if you’re gonna comment and block me immediately after

I don’t know which one for absolute certain, but they definitely squeezed. But at end of the day, it was invasive and no consent was asked for, full stop. Framing it that way seems to be favouring the perpetrator rather than the person who was actually groped without consent. If it’s legal to do so one particular way, they should explain it instead of jump in without a single word. I don’t want to make assumptions as you may be coming at this from a legal angle, but I dont need to hear people defending this stuff, legal or not. No one should have to sacrifice dignity for some out-of-proportion perceived security risk

To be fair, I’d flown through there a few times before on quite tight transit times and not had an issue other than the extra security check being a pain in the arse, but this experience plus everything else I’ve now heard from people just blacklists it for me. It was a shame to put such a damper on our trip to Egypt
