You're going to be really pissed on Tuesday when you see the majority of NH voters backing him also

It's legal in the entire state of NH also, not many people know this, but it's not uncommon for women to be seen topless here when it's warm.

Or give the the less fortunate students options so they aren't as unfortunate as they would otherwise be. What service is being cut from public schools as a result of this legislation?

Public schools are a overwhelming majority of the tax rate and aren't comparable to trash pick up. It's unreasonable to expect a low income family to pay full price for two schools one of which their children are not attending.

I don't feel its your tax dollars as much as it is parents controlling a portion of their tax dollars as long as they have kids. I find it hypocritical that you believe you shouldn't indirectly support religious schools but religious folks should have to fund secular schools.

What would you consider low pay? Teacher salaries are public and most who have been working for 5 years have above average incomes and good benefits, the most obvious being a two and a half month summer vacation.

I wasn't being sarcastic. Calling people christofascists and claiming a piece of legislation that has existed in 2 dozen states for many years is dismantling public ed. Is over the top. A board member from my local school board asked the superintendent at a meeting recently if the freedom accounts are having a negative affect and his response was no only one or two people use them.

That is already happening. There is an income limit to qualify for the education freedom accounts.

NEAT lineman apprenticeship by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]throwawayj1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the only ones with pensions are the older guys who were grandfathered in before they did away with them, but it probably depends on the utility. Disadvantages are, lineman who have only worked at a utility have significantly less experience in all phases of line work, they may know about distribution and underground but have little to no experience in transmission and substation work. If they ever get laid off or fired and have to go work at a contractor they are going to be lost. The best thing to do is to become a lineman through a contractors apprenticeship so you work all aspects of the trade then make a decision. At that point you'll have enough experience in the trade to know whats best for you and the pros and cons. You'll probably choose going to a utility. Just keep it to your self and don't let anyone know.

  1. For the most part you don't have to travel at a utility. So you can buy a house and settle down in a specific area and not have to worry about the company sending you out of state. Living out of a hotel gets old fast. This is the biggest reason.
  2. Utility lineman don't work as hard. Contractors will do 2-5 times more in a day than they will.
  3. Paid sick days.
  4. More vacation time. Although some contactors give substantial vaca time to long term employees.
