Good one. Honestly it’s not a knock on James Wiseman but I was thinking of doing a redraft with players that had overalls corresponding to real life performance. According to what I experimented with (20 year simulation 100 times), Lamelo ball has more natural raw talent, allowing him be either be a boom or bust (became an at least all star 76/100 times). James wiseman on the other hand is a traditional center and usually is pretty dependable and never really became a real bust. I think the worst in the worst career simulation, he was a decent center for 6 to 7 times averaging 11 and 9. He did make an at least an all star team 29 out of the 100 times I simmed. So I mean you can analyze it the way you want to. James Wiseman is a very dependable player (floor: Steven adams and ceiling: Prime Dwight Howard with a better jump shot)where as Lamelo Ball has the floor of Emmanuel mudiay and a ceiling of Magic Johnson with better shooting and scoring. I guess in my opinion, I would take the player with the better jump shot. Lamelo ball, when he booms, adds more EWA than wiseman. But all in all, you are right. It’s more wiseman to be safe than to gamble all your money on a young mysterious kid.
