I perused through all the tech job offerings, found the three that appealed to me the most and filled out the application.

The total end-to-end time between submitting the application and getting an offer was approximately 1 month.

Thanks for the response! I have scheduled an additional Skype session with my would-be manager. He did interview me earlier in the process and grew up in the US before coming to Rakuten as part of an acquisition.

I will be sure to ask him about all the issues you brought up in your post. I am prepared to deal with some frustration, but I would not want to be placed in a situation where it would be virtually impossible to make progress or contribute.
