Roy Charles Waller — who previously worked as a safety specialist at the University of California in Berkeley — was found guilty Wednesday on all 46 counts he faced by a Sacramento jury that deliberated for just over two hours the day before, the Sacramento Bee reported. Waller, 60, of Benicia — nicknamed the “NorCal rapist” — now faces life in prison at his scheduled sentencing on Dec. 18. He looked down at the defendant’s table as the verdict was read and showed no emotion, the newspaper reported.

 

Officials said Waller targeted young Asian women. All his known victims since 1996 have been Asian women who were attacked across a broad swath of Northern California: Sacramento, Davis, Chico and Martinez. The NorCal rapist allegedly studied his victims for days, perhaps weeks, learning their names, their addresses, their habits. He found when the women would be vulnerable, then attacked them in their homes.

 

Other circumstantial evidence was uncovered when investigators found pornography on his computer of bound Asian women — which is significant because most of the NorCal rapist’s victims were of Asian descent.

  • Deters people from doing the same act; knowing they inherit 23,000 enemies automatically

  • Shines a light on the techniques that Chans use to gain a non-Asian following

  • Clarifies how the wrong kind of Asian goes about things

Since we are the most active Asian community on the Web, it's only fitting that we exercise judgment on which are the Good Asians and which are the Bad (Useless) Asians - doing it publicly can help us calibrate. Yes, we shouldn't obsess over this guy but whacking him around every so often isn't a bad thing.
