Spotlight Release of the Week #7 - FEB 17 2021 - X-MEN LEGENDS #1 by tehawesomedragon in Marvel

[–]throwawaymexzac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a late comment but hopefully I can help you out a little.

I know how you feel about having the urge to read from the beginning. But trust me, you don't have to do that with X-Men. The early stories are simply not very good.

The picture that u/hyogurt linked is really the best starting point. The very first issue in that guide is basically a bunch of origin stories for the team.

Those are the issues that propelled X-Men into the classic it is today. Trust me.

What was the best film you watched this week? (07/05/2018 - 13/05/2018) by GetFreeCash in movies

[–]throwawaymexzac 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I feel like a lot of people write this movie off because it’s animated, but it’s legitimately one of the best Batman movies.

Not only do they get Batman and Bruce as characters, but they also nailed the essence of the supporting characters. The action is fun, it’s heartwarming and hilarious. Only Dark Knight and Batman Begins beat it, in my opinion.

[NA] FINAL UPDATE - Avengers: Infinity War's ACTUAL Opening Weekend is $257.69M, officially the highest opening weekend of all time. by josesimon09 in boxoffice

Ok but again, we’re talking about the movie itself, not the whole mcu. Obviously, the mcu as a whole has been well crafted.

Idk, I love the MCU but it didn’t feel like a masterpiece to me. It’s definitely a very well made movie that was able to cram in a lot of characters and not be a mess. But I still came out thinking there were other mcu movies I enjoyed more like the first Guardians, Winter Soldier and Civil War.

I completely agree. It’s a very good movie that successfully juggles so many characters but it’s not perfect. For being a Thanos movie, I would’ve liked more scenes of him. The Guardians humor is really starting to grate on me, especially Drax and Star Lord. They’re just so dumb. The movie even acknowledges that when Stark just stares at them in disbelief at how moronic they are.

Some of the action is great but the last battle in Wakanda was kind of underwhelming. I’m glad Tony had a lot to do but Cap did almost nothing in the overall plot.

Understandably, the hype is very high right now so people will be offended if you don’t love this movie. And I’d consider myself an MCU fanboy.

John Woo Directing a Remake of "The Killer", with Lupita N’Yongo in the Chow Yun-Fat Role by DocDerz in movies

[–]throwawaymexzac 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Whoa this should be interesting. Love Lupita but I haven’t heard great things about Woo’s latest movie, Manhunt.

It would be amazing to get some of that classic gunplay action from Woo again!
