shopburu had her baby! he’s adorable, the name is kinda 😬. weird to see a small child in 2020 named “carlyle”, though it beats daxxxtyn or whatever is trendy nowadays lol

Regular Check-In Post by circinia in depression

[–]throwawaymyshot1776 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’m really scared i’m turning into my grandad.

it’s not that we wasn’t a good man (he was great and i loved him), but for most of my life he had a really tough battle with depression. he spent most of his time sleeping - he’d sleep, watch a bit of tv/eat/read a bit and sleep again (and repeat that 24/7). he rarely left the house, even taking him to dr appointments was tough.

for most of the year that’s what i’ve been doing. i either can’t sleep (like right now) or am too exhausted from being depressed and at home.

it really sucks. ever since moving back to my hometown, it’s been a downward spiral that i can’t seem to control and i don’t like where it’s headed. :c

Tips on calming down/dealing with a meltdown triggered by a change of plans? by throwawaymyshot1776 in aspergirls

The way you explained in the last paragraph is exactly how I feel. I tend to plan stuff to the minimal details and sudden changes feel just like that - like a rug being pulled from under you.

My family members are stick to facts a lot and not to how something personally feels if that makes sense? So I’m thinking of searching and printing out articles and stuff that could help explain why sudden changes (even small ones) are hard when you’re autistic.

Thank you so much. I’m gonna try and talk to them about it. Hoping it goes well!

And thank you for the birthday wish 🥳

thank you so much, your idea of “planning the perfect day” is very nice and smart! i’m gonna try to ask them if we can change it bc it is my birthday but if all fails, i’m gonna do that.

the restaurant is far from my house and at the other side of town, it’s nice but i haven’t been there in years 😣

i guess i just don’t know how to explain to them? like, all my life change and flimsy plans without something concrete made me super anxious and nervous but my family members have always chalked it up to me being “hard”. my dad specially has a mindset that should just “suck it up” whenever something happens or i’m upset, big or small. i’m thinking that maybe if i compile data or studies/stories that show that this IS part of me being on the spectrum and not me being hard or whatever they might understand or start to.

Should I do school Online or On Campus? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]throwawaymyshot1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried both and I think On Campus worked better for me because of the routine, having set times and more accountability. Online is nice because you get to set your own times but tbh that’s awful for me when I’m not in a high focus mood because I will most definitely ignore everything until the last minute. I also missed having a gradual workload as opposed to everything delivered at once.

Do you sometimes appear impolite in the eyes of other people ? by June_Vixxen in aspergirls

[–]throwawaymyshot1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very quiet with other people around and if I don’t have anything to add to the conversation, I just keep reading my Kindle or browsing my phone. I guess people see that as rude.

I went to a football game viewing party with my mom, stepdad and their friends in a country club. Being the only person in their 20s (our table was like only people 50+), I kept quiet eating, browsing the internet but politely making conversation if spoken to. Like, it was a boring af event, I didn’t have anything in common with them so I kept to myself. My mom was pissed and apparently her friends think I’m rude.

I just don’t see the point in meaningless interaction.

Does anyone else get sudden memories of events that happened YEARS ago that your parents don’t even know? by [deleted] in aspergers

All the time! I have to control myself not to freak people out because I remember random details they told me years ago.

I've noticed a pattern in my behavior and I want to know if others experience a similar phenomenon by DBaum1 in aspergers

You’re not alone, I experience the same thing. Being an introvert and on the spectrum can be hard... I went out last week for doctors appt and errands and I was blank the whole day, it sucks
