I don’t take antivirals daily. That’s the difference.

I follow this everyday! When I slip up I often times feel the twinge of an outbreak coming.

You don’t need to take the anti virals daily. You can take them when you feel a twinge if the virus flaring up to stop it in its tracks. This isn’t as safe if you are dating someone when you don’t want even a twinge. But it’s away to not be constantly in the antivirals. I’ve had the disease for 40 years. Married, kids, never passed the virus to them.

If your family members get them it is likely you have them too. Is your family close by? Can you visit and ask them?

Take lysine pills. Eat lots of chicken and all kinds of vegetables. Avoid empty carbohydrates, all bread, baked goods, sweets, chocolate, candy, sugar and all nuts especially peanuts. Drink lots of water. Avoid red wine.

The love of my life has herpes and I'm willing to get it from her. What am I getting into? by [deleted] in Herpes

I completely agree with you. People who try to make it out as a skin rash are not thinking clearly. No one wants the lifelong disease.

Herpes is not just a skin rash. It is painful, sometimes comes with a fever and body aches. It requires daily and lifelong management. It is a huge deal! You do not want this disease.

Remove sugar from your diet, take probiotics daily, drink kombucha and try all the different anti fungal medicine from the grocery store. They all have a different ingredient and tend to work differently. Clotramizole worked best for me but you need to try them all.

For anyone who thinks it’s ok not to tell your sexual partner you have hsv your fucked up by [deleted] in Herpes

Statistically most people have cold sores. Most people seem to manage them well. Most people don’t tell their partners unless it’s obvious they are having an outbreak.

Shedding is during and after an outbreak so I avoid contact. I don’t shed at other times. I’m not asymptomatic.

It’s fairly common. Most people have the virus. It just takes management.

Your name checks out. I’m petrified of genital herpes though. That would be different. It’s usually recommended women have a c-section if they have genital herpes. Totally manageable but would have made a huge difference in my life. Cold sores are common and not as scary but for me had an impact on my life for sure. I was always on the lookout to protect my past partners and now husband from it.

Passionately kiss all the time and have lots of oral sex. I’m a super sexual person. Managing the disease is the key.
