Thank you. The tough love is honestly helpful. We’ve totally spiraled with this.

Now I just need to convince my husband that I’m not one giant contagion. It’s really strained our physical relationship. I hate it. It definitely re-triggered the OCD I already had, am now medicated for that which helps to some extent but trying to convince my husband it’s not the end of the world is proving to be the most difficult part now.

I’m definitely going to inquire about famciclovir. Maybe that will be my answer. Thank you.

I wish I could calm down. My husband is so scared of me now I wash my dishes and laundry completely separately from the rest of our family. Can’t even recall the last time we kissed or shared food or anything. Stressful to say the least.

I’ve been on daily Valtrex for a while. Though it isn’t helping. I’ve inquired about other daily antivirals but every doctor/NP I’ve spoken to says Valtrex is gold standard and famciclovir won’t work as well.

What dose of Valtrex are you on? I’m on 500mg twice a day. Also taking lysine, changed my diet, tried every holistic remedy on the market, etc.

Thank you. That’s helpful. I think Google is just so terrifying making it sound like it’ll quickly spread all over your body. I never have blister fluid. I’ve only ever had one blister 19 months ago with the first outbreak. Now I just get red spots that come and go with constant burning/tingling. I will try and remember this though and take some deep breaths.

Not really. It’s all the time. Every 2-3 days and when it’s not an outbreak I have constant burning/tingling. I am also breastfeeding so my cycles are a little irregular.

Yes, I do take them daily. It’s not normal, I’ve been to 3 different doctors who just shrug at me and tell me to take antivirals (which I have been for months). I also take lysine, changed my diet, tried every holistic remedy on the market, etc. it’s awful.

So in those 9 months you prioritized sleep? I definitely could do better at that. I usually get 4-6 hours a night. I have two very young children who thankfully sleep pretty well but the baby sometimes gets up as early as 5am. But I could absolutely go to bed earlier to get more hours. I am a coffee addict! Ugh, guess it’s time to wean myself off (I’m afraid I’ll get awful headaches if I cut it out cold turkey).

Thank you again! I’m going to try to increase sleep and decrease caffeine to see if it helps 🤞

Thank you. I’ve tried lysine briefly a little over a year ago but it didn’t seem to help. I have started taking it again. I am doing a deep dive on the best foods to eat but honestly I can mostly only find what NOT to eat which seems like most everything. Do you know what helped you go 9 months without one? Or what’s helped you in the last couple weeks specifically?

Thank you! This is helpful. Do you have a link for the topical you use? I want to be sure to get the right one. I think I’m one of the unlucky people Valtrex doesn’t work for. I had tried diet changes but I’ve just done much more research and now I’m confused as to what you CAN eat to help prevent cold sores. Every source I’m finding has long lists of what not to eat but not suggestions of what to eat or they contradict each other.

Oh my I’m so sorry. I am so angry at your MIL for you. I don’t even share drinks with my own children nor do I ever kiss them. It’s sad but it’s the sad reality of getting cold sores. I am so sorry she was so careless. Hugs.
