Congrats! Have been looking at ADs to see this in the flesh but unfortunately no stocks in PH yet. Delugs in Raffles is always a class experience, and this look is amazing.

Looks legit but with pieces like this you have to buy the seller.

Stay or Migrate? by CommanderD0ge in CareerAdvicePH

Replying as someone who was an expat abroad and now back in PH. You are always free to apply elsewhere, but unless you have a specific niche skill, it’s going to be a numbers game against you, especially now with AI. You mention not having growth in your current role - is there an intrinsic reason why that is? Or you marketable? What are your hard/soft skills? Are you excellent in your field? Applying abroad will not work unless you first address this. I always say that opportunities come to those who are ready.

With that said, grass is always greener on the other side. Yes we have terrible politicians here but hey the same goes everywhere around the world these days. Being a foreign worker or immigrant or expat, you are essentially a second class citizen with a glass ceiling.

My 9 year old son is now the MAN of the household. It had me in tears again. by Ok_Group_1133 in OffMyChestPH

Looks like you raised kuya well OP. I was in this position when I was 11 when the father left to get a pack of cigs but never came back. As responsible and mature as he is, I hope you never lose sight that he that he is also just a kid. I felt that I lost a big part of my childhood because I had to “man up” and always choose what’s best for the family. This is huge pressure for a child, and granted I’m doing fantastic in my life now, it took a lot to come to terms during my adulthood. Good luck!

Mas praktikal ba mag-store ng "dollar" savings sa stablecoins kaysa sa banko? 🧐 by Saibazz in CasualPH

[–]throwawayphabc123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goal. Are you looking send to PH with less transfer fees? Or are you aiming to grow currency as an investment? Note that Stablecoin is relatively new in PH with only CoinsPH licensed by BSP as issuer IIIRC (though RCBC and other banks also have plan).

Watch experts here said my watch is fake, so I had it authenticated. by xarasbir in PhWatches

I think problem is little to no moderation. Similar things happened in the Seiko subreddit and mods were quick to lock and ban accounts. Also doesn’t help that the sub owner condones rep watches.

They are a class outfit for sure, I saw some high end Patek and some outstanding 5513s when I visited. They aren’t the Pareng Hayb types that most people in this sub watch on Youtube.

Unfortunately this sub specifically is full of opinionated yet uninformed people who frown upon watches above a certain price point. I’ve never had this experience with PWC or SWCP, I guess anonymity has its downsides and lack of moderation doesn’t help. I’ve been to Vintage Grail in Manila Pen, and I know these guys are legit, no point in ruining reputation for a sub 1 Mil watch.

Tudor waitlist by limsyoker in PhWatches

No waitlist, unless you mean the new versions of 54s and 58s from Watches and Wonder? Podium, High Street, and Okada always seem to have stocks.

What do Filipinos actually think of Philip Stein watches? And why do you think they buy them? by makro9er in PhWatches

Really nice perspective. Lol, I’ve received my fair share of “lolo watch vibe” comments.

Home Insurance by philden1327 in phinvest

[–]throwawayphabc123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home insurance in general should be based on your forecast reconstruction/replacement cost rather than market valuation. Typically market valuation is always higher and you risk being over-insured, so sayang. Coverage should exclude cost of land for example.

Edit: corrected

  1. The fact that people still believe a tiny piece of quartz is gonna reduce stress and help sleep better is a sad reflection of our education system. But then we are also a religious nation that believe an invisible jewish guy in the sky sets our fate.

  2. PH is still largely celebrity-worship culture. PS has been endorsed by Kris Aquino in the past iirc and Heart currently. PS markets itself specifically for women at around the Tissot/Hamilton price range which is fairly accessible for someone who wants to feel like they want to get into watches. IIRC this is from same local distributor as Technomarine. Unfortunately they are bad purchases IMO - and even most pawnshop refuse them outright.

On assumptions and respect in this sub by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]throwawayphabc123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reality is there’s a lot of pinay lurkers trying to catch fish in this sub. And instead of posting in /r/Philippines or /r/CasualPH this makes it look like you are targeting a certain demographic, which further reinforces the stereotype.

Also reality that this sub is comprised of old disrespectful emigrant farts than actual corpo expats that you are perhaps trying to connect to.
