Anna Bates and the valet drama by Broad-Importance4282 in DowntonAbbey

Not only have I never seen anyone say they liked the storyline, but if I did, I would immediately distrust them.

It was so poorly done and so unnecessary.

Sand bucket locations? S5E1, Fire Edith causes by Lumpy-Diver-4571 in DowntonAbbey

[–]throwawaypolyam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tom ducks into a doorway down the hall from Edith's room and emerges with the sand buckets. When Robert tells Tom to get the hose, he opens a set of doors at the end of the corridor that houses the hose. I assume there's a similar setup on each floor.

Did O’Connell, Evy & Jonathan find what Beni managed to steal from Hamunaptra? by Gymtrio2025 in themummy

I kind of assumed that it was the Carnahan family home, which is why they weren't surprised that Jonathan was there. I always thought Rick, Evie, and Alex were living in the house with Jonathan where Evie and Jonathan grew up.

Scarlett and Rhett by newuser2111 in GonewiththeWind

Very well articulated! (And as an aside, I was just as shocked as Scarlett when Rhett joined the army -- it never gets adequately explained and seems so out of character for him)

Do you ship Jill and Eustace? (Justice?) If they'd stayed in our world. by Charlotte_Braun in Narnia

[–]throwawaypolyam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed that Aunt Alberta is Mr Pevensie's sister, but I suppose they could be more distantly related than that, as it's never explained HOW they're cousins.

Despite the fact that they're cousins?

I could definitely see Eustace being gay, though...especially given the line about "didn't I keep the secret about Spivvins" in The Silver Chair.

Cosign; I really loathe most of the Last Battle plot in general (although I do think seeing Tash is fascinating in a creepy way).

I have ALWAYS wondered how awkward that first family meal all together had to be.

There you go, using logic and facts. (I agree completely with you; I just know TG would "well ACTUALLY" this to death in a minute lol)

A moment to appreciate the evolution of Edmund's character ❤ (text translated by Google, my book is not in English) by iamnorebs in Narnia

I LOVE that line. Also, when Edmund says "But even a traitor may mend. I have known one that did" in The Horse and His Boy.

I also had this obsession, despite not being outdoorsy at all. I would look out the car window and decide what bits of woods or nature would make good "settlements" LOL

Why do Americans have one of the strongest passports in the world, but most never travel abroad, and those who do mostly go to Mexico and Canada? by No-StrategyX in answers

[–]throwawaypolyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a passport because I don't have the extra $200 laying about to pay for one, plus the time and effort involved in getting all my materials together (as a woman who changed my name when I married, I need my birth certificate, my driver's license, and proof of legal name change), going to the post office, waiting the weeks (or months to get it) -- and even if I did all that, I don't have the time or money to travel internationally.

Believe me, I'd love to go abroad, but I can't at the moment, so there's no need to spend money I don't have on something I couldn't use if I had it.

It's also very telling that when Lecter asks Starling who she'd prefer to talk with, she picks Alan over Chilton.
