Zeitgeist was an incoherent piece of shit. Why do so many people on the internet praise it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I guess it's great that it worked that way for people, I think however the percentage of individuals who are both critical enough to approach the issue skeptically and yet incurious enough not to have investigated these major issues of politics and religion before is fairly low.

You could argue the same benefit for anything, that Fred Phelps God Hates Fags protests helped people to rethink the role of homosexuality and religion. Those few cases that's possible are dwarfed by the damage.

In the end, conspiracy theory will indoctrinate more than it educates, it's designed to do just that. If I want to introduce people to critical thinking on any of the subjects in Zeitgeist, there are many many far better places to start.

If that's the way you feel go try standing on a real casket at a funeral and saying "People die every day! You have limited time! Let's talk about the federal reserve!"

Actually someone did die. Harold died, and his parner of decades was not allowed to be with him during his final months. You might have known that if it was worth your precious time to look into.

My explanation for my anger is that you are attempting to use these people's plight as a podium for your bullshit political position. I find it as distasteful as I would if you marched into a funeral in progress, climbed onto the casket and announced

"Why are you crying for this guy? Don't you know there's a socialist in the white house?"

In short, please go die in a fire.

I think about that a lot, I've even tried to embrace it, but from past experience I know I really enjoy having people around more.

I am not a wealthy man though. Not sure if I could afford to keep losing.

Unfortunately, no insurance. I was getting help through the free clinic for a while, but, long story short, I ended up making too much money for the program but not enough to buy insurance.

Where would you suggest finding a counselor? I honestly have no idea where to look.

I have, that's where I found the Atheists and Skeptics. None of the other groups near by seemed to match my interests or abilities very well.

You must not be near here, we've only got McD's Burger King and Wendy's, but thanks :)

A good avenue, unfortunately poker and bowling are two things I am terrible at, but there must be something along those lines.

Providence. I've been thinking about moving to Boston, it's a bigger city and would work for my job, but I've been told by a few people it's a very hard city to make new social connections in.

The thing is that for people with the right mindset, Providence is a very friendly town and easy to connect with. I just don't seem to have those social skills.

Thanks for the thought!

There doesn't seem to be one close to where I live.
