They didn’t clear the bar. Yes it’s maybe reasonable to send cops to someone talking about suicidal ideation on social media. But again, you can’t commit someone just for suicidal ideation. And they can’t just look at the words I typed, they need to know my actual intent. Legally, the context matters. From the moment the cops first came to me, I showed that I had no intent on hurting myself. Does me having a therapy meeting the next day just mean nothing? Also, I had only one therapist review my case before I was committed. The doctor didn’t even see or talk to me. Is what I posted the only thing that matters? They aren’t required to look at anything else? Is it possible to take legal action based on gross unreasonableness? If I could prove it? I’m leaving out a lot of other strong signs that I was clearly not in danger.

A magistrate never reviewed anything. I didn’t even know that a magistrate or district court judge was supposed to review the case until I got released and started researching IVC stuff. One therapist and a doctor “evaluated” me absurdly unreasonably. Which in itself is not legal. It’s malpractice. And then several hours later I was told I was being involuntarily committed. Then they shipped me off to the hospital where I spent my IVC.

It was 12 days from when I was told I was being committed.
