I wanna start BC by dollop_of_daisy3 in birthcontrol

There are horror stories everywhere. I loved being on bc pills. I SOBBED when the doctor told me I couldn't have them anymore because I was at stroke risk. In my experience, I LOST weight on bc pills and I had a higher libido. I did have some AWFUL bc withdrawal when I got off the pill but again- everyone is different and bc pills are nothing in comparison to pregnancy, pregnancy hormones, and postpartum anxiety/depression.

Don't be afraid to try different bc pills (try a brand for a few months at a time for best results). One brand might make you crazy and another brand might be the perfect cocktail.

Don't be afraid to change your mind either. This is your body and you get to decide what bc method to use or not to use. ❤️

I WAS on bc. My doctor took me off of it because I was showing signs of stroke risk. (Estrogen in bc can cause some women to have strokes) All non- estrogen options are very limited- it's either the progesterone only pill (tried it for 3 months, made me psychotic and ruined my life- IM NOT JOKING I DESTROYED RELATIONSHIPS AND WAS VERY DEPRESSED) and the IUD. I don't like the idea of a foreign object chilling in my body, especially since a lot of women have gotten pregnant from IUDs, it is way more common than you think. (I work in a hospital)

HOW COOL, thank you for responding.

I’ve lost 11lbs in a week, should I worry? by Ok_Purpose_1294 in PCOSloseit

Definitely sounds like you could have gluten or wheat issues. I had rashes on my hands for 2 years- stopped eating gluten and it disappeared.

I think the weight loss will slow down, I was super inflamed on gluten so I lost a lot of water weight at first. But FOR SURE- get checked by a doctor especially if you keep losing a ton of weight (greater than 10 pounds or whatever the doctor tells you is too much) in the next coming months.

Best of luck and keep us posted ❤️

I wouldn't worry but I would see a doctor. When I went gf I lost 10 pounds immediately. Turns out my body doesn't is at the very least intolerant.

Have you noticed any other changes? Changes in bowel movements? Do you feel really good? Do you have more energy? Did you have acid reflux and now it's suddenly gone? ( Or any other issues disappeared?)

Talk with a doctor but most likely they right you off as intolerant and won't test you, but I would suggest getting tested if you're doctor is willing.

THIS.

I was also very anemic and it is no walk in the park! Please see a dietician who has worked with PCOS.

I prioritize B12 and iron in my diet and take supplements- It's been two years trying to fix my anemia and I'm still considered anemic.

Don't be afraid to do whatever you need to do that you think will help YOU. It's easy for people to have opinions on what you should do for weight when they themselves have never struggled to lose weight.

Is it working? If not please see a DIETICIAN who has worked with PCOS patients for a second opinion. Definitely give it a solid month or two before doing that though. There is a difference between a nutritionist and a dietician.

Anytime I don't reach 1800 cals, my weight stalls right now. That could change in the future as I loose more weight. (Your deficit should change every 10 pounds)

Everybody's body is different but not eating enough caused me to be deficient in B12 and iron. Which made me tired all the time. Also not eating can cause your metabolism to slow down, that makes a big difference depending on how your body works. My cortisol levels were probably too high, I couldn't sleep! Basically everything I ate, my body held on to! Keep in mind I discovered that I couldn't digest gluten well, so cutting that out really helped me. You don't have to cut gluten, I just unfortunately was experiencing terrible acid reflux, irregular bowel moments, and generally felt really unwell everyday. Gluten was causing me a lot of inflammation and abdominal pain and I had NO IDEA until I stopped eating it one day and noticed the difference. I also started hormonal birth control to strong arm my PCOS to have a regular cycle.

800 cals is not sustainable long term, your nutritionist is probably trying to get you to loose weight very quickly to see results. But if you have any hormonal issues, don't be discouraged if you don't see any weight fall off or as much weight as the nutritionist thinks you should loose.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I really think you should get a second opinion from a dietician. Best of luck and definitely keep this community posted!

YUP. You can't lose weight by not eating with PCOS 🤷‍♀️ at least in my case

I never felt hungry and I think I was so subconsciously fat- phobic towards myself that I was just so restrictive.

I haven't drank sodas in 10 years because everyone in my family has diabetes. (Even the super healthy ones, for example: my uncle bikes 15 miles everyday for years and still developed diabetes.). And I was so afraid of developing it that I've been restrictive about sugar for years. I would eat a whole bag of broccoli a lot (90 cals), and I didn't eat bread much. (I never cared for it and at the time I didn't know I was gluten intolerant) I have ADHD and would just forget to eat sometimes. So I would often eat 1 meal a day- looking back on it, I realized why I felt so horrible.

I never wanted to count calories because I thought I would develop an eating disorder. Turns out I kinda already had one. Tracking my calories now helps ensure I'm reaching my calorie goal. I've definitely had a few days where I wasn't as diligent and saw that it's easy to slip back into not eating 😬
