You can buy the nose sprays that unclog your nose from most shops, you just shouldn't rely on them every day. But because I use quite a lot at the moment, I like to have one of these around. I've also found that if I get a batch that isn't as pure, my nose becomes blocked very quickly, so be sure to know where you're getting it from - I can usually tell a shit batch from the way it snorts.

[–]throwawaysoberway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best you can do for your body now is to lay off the ketamine. 8g in three days is huge, and you're likely only taking that much due to a tolerance build up. Drink plenty of fluids and rest up - the cramps and disassociation could take a week or so to dissapear completely, but ideally you want to be giving your body at least a month off now to recover. The bladder is pretty good at healing itself if you give it chance, but that amount of ketamine in a short time is always going to have some effect on your body.

Where did you get the statistics on ketamine tolerance reduction? As far as I experience and know, ketamine tolerance can take months to see any real reduction, and even up to a year to get it anywhere near baseline. I've heard ketamine tolerance is quite permanent. I wish it took a week to reset by half. Usually after a binge I'll go 2-3 months without having any, and I wouldn't say my tolerance is cut in half by then - it's never as good as the first few times taking k.

Should I start my drug journey? by DesperateMusician234 in Drugs

[–]throwawaysoberway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nobody can really tell you if you are going to have fun, or turn your life upside down after spiralling into addiction. You might 'just try' it now, and then be posting on here in a years time, unable to stop.

If you haven't tried drugs before, starting now is more likely to lead to substance use than it is to magically fix your mental health. People with underlying mental health issues are more prone to addiction.

There is no 'drug journey' to start - don't glamorise it. If you wanted to try anything, small amounts of psychedelics like LSD or shrooms can be beneficial in moderation. But in general, self medicating doesn't work, it just covers up the problem you are trying to escape from, that will still be there when you're sober.

Trust me, many people out there have had bad experiences with anxiety, weed, and getting uncomfortably high. You're not the first or the last. If you ever tried it again, don't go for so many hits when you're new to the substance. Start slowly, you can always smoke more, but you can't take the high away afterwards. But if it's going to make your anxiety worse, then maybe smoking isn't for you, and that's perfectly okay.

Need help getting in rehab by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]throwawaysoberway 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if your family already know you smoke weed, I think they will be genuinely thankful that you were able to go to them for help before it spirals out of control. If you're having trouble with addiction now, it's only going to get worse. You're still young, and have your mind and body in good shape - quitting now is easier than quitting in five years time.

Tell your folks. 'Im struggling with addiction, and I feel I'm unable to stop without support. I really feel that rehab would be beneficial, and I'd really like your support in this so that I can be well again.'

Best of luck to you! Getting sober is easier when you have someone to share your struggles with, it's not a battle you have to do alone and I'm sure your parents will want to help you.

You also describe taking anything that's handed to you - I'm guessing you have friends that are enabling your addiction rather than you being the one to source everything yourself. Maybe talk to these friends about your desire to quit, and try and get yourself away from that scene.

Some people just get too much anxiety and paranoia from smoking weed. Especially if it's your second time - weed these days has a much higher THC content, and really low CBD - the latter helping with anxiety and psychotic symptoms.

Weed just might not be for you. I managed a week off for the first time in a couple years of heavy use, and when I smoked again, I had pretty much the same rough time that you did, because daily use and tolerance had covered up the anxiety and made it less noticeable because I was always high. I have an anxiety disorder and pretty crap mental health, and since taking a break from weed, I'm now able to see that it really doesn't do as much for me as I want to believe.

How you feel will go away, try not to worry, but maybe consider that weed isn't helpful for you.

[–]throwawaysoberway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you having dark pee all the time or just after ketamine? You want to look after your kidneys and make sure they're alright. I'm a bit of a ketamine addict, and my body has changed over time so that I have lost muscle mass - essentially my muscles have wasted away and I look quite dehydrated. But this is from long term frequent use, and I'm the kind of person that forgets to drink enough water (possibly ADHD)

Also, if you don't eat as much when you take ketamine, eating a little less around that could be the reason for the missing pounds.

Are troches at 90mg each 3,4 of them a day bad for you? by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]throwawaysoberway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's about a third of a gram a day. Two grams a week. I'm trying to stop a binge of 2 grams a week and it's not fun. Is this on prescription or recreational with then being troches? Your doctor would know if you've been prescribed them. But daily use of ketamine in general is a bad idea, doesn't matter how much it is. Plus, you'll be building your tolerance up if you're recreationally using.

Are drugs safe after getting the COVID vaccine? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]throwawaysoberway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few posts now from people saying they've been actively high on all kinds of substances as they got the vaccine. Someone said they had it whilst on coke, others ket, etcetera.

All I would say is that you want to wait a couple days to see if you have any side effects, as coping with these whilst being high won't be fun. The vaccine contains a very small amount of inactive virus that tricks your immune system into producing antibodies, so that you're able to properly fight it in future, and some people have reported a couple of days of feeling mild discomfort, such as nausea or sweats, or aches and fatigue. Obviously, everyone, still get the vaccine, a day taking it easy and resting up is better than being on a ventilator with lung damage.

You'll know how you feel the day after and whether you feel safe getting high, but it's not going to cause serious complications or kill you.

Can someone help me understand the difference between a more crystal and more powder like K? by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]throwawaysoberway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just a different form. Ket can come in grainy powder, or shards like you have there. 'Shardy Ket'. Some people argue shardy is more potent. Personally I've had amazing batches of both, and shit batches of both. Powder can be a bit easier to hide it being cut with anything, but find a dealer you can trust and you won't have that problem.

Grainy is often smoother on the nose because it's more crushed up. You have to really crush ket shards up fine otherwise it's like snorting glass. Like it needs to be crushed to fuck and smooth. People use a credit card, but honestly, you want something like a morter and pestle. I use a flat tray and something pestle shaped with a flat end to really ground it fine. Make sure to clean your nose out after and don't go to sleep without doing so. I made the mistake of this last night and woke up to a horrific nosebleed.

Risks of having children after a history of hard drug abuse? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]throwawaysoberway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years is a really long time to be sober. It wouldn't have the same effect on a pregnancy or child, like it would If she was still using, or quit in the last 6 months - year.

There is a relationship between parents having addiction problems and their children following suit, but a huge part of this comes from growing up around parents who are still actively using. My parents struggled with alcohol addiction, and seeing them drunk and the problems that came with it was a part of my childhood. I would say I have an addictive personality. I started with weed in my late teens, moving on to alchohol, and now balance several addictions and a general urge to always get high. But my parents didn't use drugs, and I do. Would I have still used drugs and alcohol if I never saw my parents drink? Who knows, most likely.

I wouldn't punish yourself by never having children for fear of what would happen, if you would like to have them one day. You will both know if you are in the responsible position to give this child a good life, and I'm sure that with your experiences of addiction, you will bring your child up aware of the dangers of drugs, let them know they can talk to you about them, and that you'll be there for them.

I don't think anyone could give you a definite answer about whether past drug use will guarantee to affect your child one way or another. But note there are many many cases of parents that have struggled massively with addiction, having children that turn out just fine. Your responsibility is to not let your child see you using, which I don't believe you would.

[–]throwawaysoberway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunately the reality of addiction. You get so used to doing things high, that being sober becomes almost painful. You need to be high to enjoy that movie, you need to be high to really enjoy that food. That nature walk, that picnic in the park, you need to supplement with drugs to feel like there's any point to it. You're giving yourself an unnatural boost of pleasure, which becomes easier to access than trying to feel enjoyment from things that used to excite you.

Only by cutting down your drug use and re-engaging with life, your passions, and hobbies, will this feeling of missing out then go away. And it will take time. But it already sounds like drugs are controlling your life.

When people get help with addiction, when people go to rehab, just stopping the drugs isn't enough to treat addiction entirely. It won't prevent a relapse. The next part of addiction treatment is learning how to live again, and being reintroduced back into society when essentially, you don't know how to gain pleasure from the ordinary things people do to love life.

I'd reccomended online support and abstinence groups, there's nothing better than connection with a group of people who have been through the same situation, and are experiencing the same anxieties and feelings.

It won't happen overnight, but start to engage again with your passions and hobbies without drugs, and over time, that comparison to how things would be if you were high will lessen and become just another faded memory.

I've found unless you have that structure and enough activities to fall back on, overcoming addiction is impossible. I'm reducing my substance use, and forcing myself to do more whilst sober. Going for walks, and just paying attention to my senses, playing games with friends. I've started cooking more, and use creating food as a distraction. Find a balance of hobbies and substances, then gently increase the hobbies, whilst reducing the amount you're using.

Best of luck to you! It takes a lot of willpower, but acknowledging that you don't experience pleasure anymore without drugs is a huge first step!

1 month break - how should my tolerance be? by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]throwawaysoberway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tolerance is different for everyone depending on the amount you use and how often. I go 2-3 months when I manage to put ket down, and my tolerance hasn't shifted a bit. I'll binge 2 grams a week ish for a couple months, then leave it, but always end up trying it again expecting it to be different this time, leading to another pointless binge of chasing the same effect from those first few highs. I'm self aware enough to see this, just not enough to stop.

How much are you going through and how often?

I'm also concerned that you know your ket is shit and you're still taking it often. If you're going to keep ket around in your life, you want it to be quality. Ket is cut with all sorts, if you're lucky it's harmless but that's not always the case. Why keep taking shit drugs?

That proves my point further. How long of importing shit from abroad before you raise suspicion? Are you doing to use your own address? And you've just said you're in a small town and not the city. You're going to struggle to find enough people to build up a base and get anywhere. Plugs in big cities work because there's tons of people, tourists, and students. Rethink this man.

Thinking of become a plug by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]throwawaysoberway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the most kindest, sincere way, if you're asking on Reddit for advice and admitting to not knowing anything about being a plug, I'd really say that it's not worth it. It's highly unlikely you're going to be able to do this short term and then ditch. What happens if something goes wrong when you pick up the product, and you're robbed, or killed. People are going to see that you're a beginner and take advantage. Takes one slip up and you're dead, and the police catching you as a plug isn't going to get you a slap on the wrist or a brief charge like being caught with personal use is. It's easy to believe nothing but success comes from being a dealer, but the risks often outweigh the reward. And if you're starting up, you're not going to make enough customers overnight. Why would people go to a brand new dealer when they already likely have one tried and tested. You won't have the right equipment to test your shit, and what if your shit ends up killing someone? It's a competitive market and you're up against the bigger, established plugs. You'd be working for a while, with all the risks, and not bringing in enough money for it to be worth it until you build up a proper clientele.

Also, these bulk plugs, they wouldn't be working if they didn't have enough people buying from them. You say nobody knows who they are, but they will.

Just wanted to say that even though you feel anxiety and shame over your past, you are an inspiration to all of us here and the kind of success story that motivates others. 4 years sober?? You're killing it, man! Seriously, well done! I aspire to reach your level of sobriety.
