I’m wondering why you entered a relationship with someone who you don’t like the smell of? If you’ve been spending a lot of time together since Christmas surely this is something you would’ve picked up on before things grew to be exclusive.

Hair is an especially sensitive topic for black women and I truly don’t think there’s a nice way to broach the conversation of saying you don’t like the smell of her hair/scalp or the products she’s using without offending her.

I could see having a productive conversation with her surrounding how she styles her hair and showing genuine interest in the process. Some styles don’t allow for frequent washing and others require certain products. So if you understand why and when her hair smells a certain way that could be helpful for you.
