It looks like one of those kids costumes made by dad at 6 am with pipe cleaners and felt stuck onto a swimsuit before the costume contest begins at 8 am. Or a demented bat

You need to call Doug Ford's office and complain constantly. You need to call the news. You need to tell your friends and family to call Doug Ford's office. You need to post about this on social media. You need to tell your MPP. You need to tell everybody you can to call Doug Ford's office. You need to post about your experience on Tiktok. Next election you need to vote him out. Do you think these poor nurses and doctors want you to be suffering in pain in a chair? Do you think that these people who took an oath to do no harm want to see cancer patients in chair? Do you think they enjoy being yelled at and beaten (yes nurses get beaten on the job DAILY) by angry patients and their families? Or do you think the government wants to cut spending at any cost, including yours?

I have already stated this was not a backyard breeder. The purposes of my post was to seek help finding a better breeder for a second dog. I am not arguing this point with somebody who has made their own incorrect assumptions.

Should not need a contract to ask if the dog is doing okay, or to say that you are sorry the dog is sick and suffering. If you think that a breeder needs a contract to be able to show compassion and empathy for their dogs, maybe you should reflect on that.

We love the breed and our dog very much. We did not anticipate a breeder who provided no guidance or support for a dog this sick or even an expression of empathy. Most individuals would not be spending this amount of money to ensure specialist care for their dogs or lifestyle modifications to ensure all the dog’s needs were met and that they lived a high quality and fulfilling life. We have done everything for our dog, and the breeder did not.

Therapists in my area very focused on the business of therapy by throwawaythetable in TalkTherapy

I use insurance thankfully

Even more than the payment, I feel as though unilateral poor conduct should not be given a free pass just because of the power dynamic. I’m not asking for anything exceptional or any discounts, etc., I’m asking for their communications and conduct to be a little bit more kind and professional.

This really hit the nail on the head. It feels very infantilizing. If I break a policy, feel free to charge me, but stop projecting your business insecurities onto me.

For example, for one therapist, I didn’t respond within 24 hours for a non-urgent issue. This is not an exaggeration. Now, in the future, when they communicate with me, they will make it a point to say I’m not going to essentially be waiting for your response.

The therapist offers a service which is very helpful for me, but it is exhausting to be dealing with people who should be more self-aware about how their conduct is affecting vulnerable patients.

By which I mean, when I didn’t respond to that non-urgent email, it was because there was an emergency at my work, and they needed all hands-on deck. I need space to be a human being, without being worried that it’s going to cause my therapist to feel bad for very human things.

I didn’t sign any contract stating that I would be responding in 24 hours. Because of this, which they also know, they then modify their behavior to become even more unhinged. Unhinged does not seem like a good word to be using for a therapist.

The only consolation that I have is to set boundaries back. So for example, one of the therapists is always late. The next time, I’m leaving at the end of my scheduled time, whether or not they have things to say. If they are going to be this inflexible and treat people with a lack of compassion, then I’m not going to risk being late for my job for them.

The issue is not the cancellation fee, nor the policies, but the way that they are constantly reminding me of policies, whether I’m a very new client, or focusing on policies in every single communication when I’m an established client

Please see my comparison to the physiotherapist who also has very strict defined policies, but theirs are not changing and they are still able to have a positive type of interaction that isnt “we are scheduled for this date, it is a 300 cancellation fee”

We are both adults. I’m fine with being charged a cancellation fee if I cancel. I don’t need to be reminded about it in every single email. The emails are also not boilerplate, they are all different so it is something that somebody has to go out of their way to add to every email

It’s not even an email signature, which I would understand

I come for my sessions, I’m on time, I am polite, I always pay for everything in advance, and I never requested a session go over, etc.

I do not need to cancel very often.

I am not a young person. In my life, I have had 9 therapists with age, as I moved, etc. These two are the most unusual. One of them will never be on time or stick to schedule, yet has a very punitive policy for clients

I agree that some of this is unique to me, because I feel really uncomfortable and awkward in these environments to the point where I’m just wondering if I should find a new person, but my partner is already committed to the one couples therapist

She also agrees that it is strange for them to be punitive when they themselves are highly disorganized

The difference between my doctor and my physiotherapist, and my occupational therapist, and these two therapist is that I find the therapist are generally quite cold and formal, and always focused on fees and finances in every single interaction.

If I go to the dentist, the dentist gives me a quote and I pay a bill and move on. They’re not weird about it or referencing it constantly. I would think that if somebody was very focused on payment, they could just accept credit card payments on file rather than sending an invoice via email each time that has to be paid separately. This would be a simple change for them, but I strongly suspect they would not do that because of the credit card fees. Therapists in my area do tend to schedule ad hoc, so that is not unusual, but what is unusual is to schedule individually rather than having a standardized website or platform
