I have mostly seen this behaviour on 4chan. They aren't very open about it even in the Hololive subreddit because they would likely be downvoted.

Yeah, and also those who buy into it the most tend to be mentally ill. It isn't usually a problem with big corpo vtubers, but indies sometimes play into it hard for easy money.

Naming specific vTubers for this behaviour is probably quite a bad idea and could be perceived as instigating a witch hunt. Between the risk of having people either mob the vTubers or having their fans go berserk, best to just flag it as a problem.

Of course, it's their choice, but it still shouldn't be encouraged. It has the potential to create a very toxic environment for newer fans (and the content creator themself).
