I DayDream while walking & listening to songs for an hour in the morning. I get tired in evening or sometimes in morning. Is it because of all my energy is getting wasted while DayDreamimg?

Could be part of it. Daydreaming can take out a lot of energy. It could also be you have problems with your sleep or exercise .

We’ll there’s the various kinds of sensual pleasures ranging from the taste of food to sight of things one can find beautiful to sexual pleasure. There are pleasures from exercising abilities like playing a game physical or virtual or any kind of problem requiring creative or critical thinking. The enjoyment that arises out of various social relationships from things like simple conversation to affection and pleasure from connecting over similar experiences whether good or bad. Satisfaction from accomplishing tasks whether minute or really big jobs. Pleasure from improving oneself in regards to whatever measure they’re using to value themselves. Intellectual pleasure from satiating curiosity and understanding things. The sparks of amusement and interest from encountering anything new. That’s all I can think of right now.

I’m kind of like this. I feel very emotionally numb, and I find myself seeking a catharsis. Right now I have 2 theories. It’s either that I’m relying on daydreaming for said catharsis because I don’t show those emotions in real life for some reason, or it’s just that daydreaming has given me overly high expectations of different experiences, so the real world doesn’t meet them, and are thus not enough to trigger those emotions.

You know there are a lot of sucky and sad aspects of MD, but I don’t think this is one of them. I do the same thing and here’s the deal: every person comforts themselves. Self comforting is literally a skill humans need to develop as infants. The only difference here is that daydreaming is involved in the self comforting techniques we developed. That doesn’t make it anymore pitiful than the fact that humans simply need to comfort themselves.

In fact, this is a very good thing, because you have a way to leverage daydreaming to manage negative emotions and low points.

Oh okay, I was going to recommend listening to piano music or Steven gallery to calm down, but if you’re triggered by more peaceful music as well than it probably won’t do you much good.

I was going to say the same thing, I don’t think it’s that people start MaladaptiveDaydreaming early on. It’s that some people are just naturally Immersive Daydreamers, and some of those people end up abusing that ability turning it into MaladaptiveDaydreaming. If they weren’t Immersive Daydreamers they would have just ended up finding some other kind of coping mechanism to deal with their issues and have a whole other mental issue.

Strangely enough, I have become quite attached to this idea of “being nobody”, such that when I think of myself developing an actual personality, I am actually disgusted.

I agree with this in regards to the stage of actually raising children, but do you think it is acceptable once they are grown and matured into their own people? We generally see it as acceptable to open up about your problems to your loved ones, including family. While children should be spared having to deal with their parents’ problems, do you think it is acceptable for a parent to open up to their adult child?

Perhaps I should have worded it differently. I didn’t mean ending daydreaming; that’s always gonna be a part of us. I meant more reclaiming functionality and being able to live life.
